2009 Town Car Hood Won’t Open

My hood won’t open. I tried yesterday spraying it was cable cleaner and also got under the engine and tried messing with things. Is there a to manually open the hood?

Is the cable broke or does it seem to just not release the latch?

I had one 'stick' on me and it took a few days messing with it and blindly spraying WD-40 before it finally released. Was never sure what exactly gave way but after thoroughly lubricating and exercising the latch and cable, it never happened again.

On another vehicle which happened to be a parts car, I had to break through the grille to get at the broken cable... doubt you want to go that route.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing, hopefully it works. But yeah breaking through the grill is my last resort

The cable is still attached and it just feels stuck.

If I recall correctly, I pulled the release handle and it felt fine but it never 'popped' the hood release at the end of its travel and didn't seem to want to retract... as if it pulled to the end and just stuck there.

I remember banging on the hood in the area of the latch to no avail as well.

It was several attempts along with liberal application of WD-40 over a couple days or more before it just magically worked.
