Hello everybody, ive registered with this site a long time ago just never had the time to check it out. so i decided to post some stuff of what i am trying to do with my continental. I have obviously the 86 5.0, with stock 150 or so HP. lincoln at this time was more concerned with fuel milage rather that having power to pull around a steel chariot. My question is to all the power hungry folks out there, what do you do to get more power into these cars. I know about throttle bodies, intakes, heads, exhaust, but i want to do a major rebuild of the engine with different parts and make it a sleeper if possible. I want to upgrade to a 5.4 maybe in the future with better suspension and brakes as well. any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Your car I believe is a Fox chassis, shares a lot in common with the Mustang of similar vintage. You may even get Mustang headers to fit, but I doubt you will get a 5.4 in there - a couple minutes with a tape measure would show you. A 5.8 might work though - a sleeper indeed.

Good luck,
- Jeff

There's so much you can do with a 5.0L. I would stick with the engine you've got and build that. The 5.0 is the cheapest ford v8 engine to performance build. A fresh rebuild with some HO pistons, performance cam, 4 barrel intake/carb, SVO heads and some racing connecting rods should give you the power you're looking for.
