Hey all,

I've recently aquired a 1981 Lincoln Town Car, complete with original 8-Track "Premium Sounds" stereo. But, I only have sound coming out of one rear speaker. None of the other ones work, with the exception of the front, driver's dash speaker. If i turn down the volume on the stereo all the way, that cancels out the sound from the rear speaker, allowing me to just barely hear the front speaker. I initially thought maybe the amplifier has gone out, but now with the front speaker barely audible, I'm not sure. This sure is a mystery to me, and any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Update!

I went out and fiddled with the radio, adjusting front to back, side to side, and noticed I get sound from all speakers, but not fully. The passenger rear speaker is the only fully operational speaker, with the others barely producing audio. What could this be from? I've recently replaced window gaskets and finally have the car nice and quiet. Now i want to enjoy my tunes! Thanks all.

I'd check all the connections first. Could just be an old crappy connection on the plugs behind the radio.

I did pull out the radio, and it seems as if all the connections are in good shape. Nothing unplugged, or corroded/rusted. I believe my problems lie within the radio itself, and I'm not going to be able to repair it though.

Check Ebay. You may find another. There are places on there that will repair it too.
