Hey folks,
I just bought an '08 Town Car and I have a hard time seeing the gauges during the day. The gauges do not light up unless the auto feature turns on the headlights or I manually turn on the headlights. I'm making educated guesses about my speed for 25% of my daytime hours in this beautiful car. Is this normal? Is there something wrong and if so, is there a fix? I'm considering aftermarket gauges and i am kind of sick about it.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi rob, I'm not sure if this came on an 08, but on my 97 there's a switch on the left of the steering wheel on the dash that controls the instrument panel brightness, and if you hold that up, then it'll turn up the brightness of the instrument panel, but I'm not sure if that's on an 08 or not

This is one of my greatest dislikes about my unit! The digital dash is bad enough, but the slant of the dash combined with the ill-placed HVAC/radio is extemely annoying! I see in later models that this was rectified. As most of my operation is at night,I must turn down the rheostat to almost nothing due to glare and windshield reflection! Then when I run the car the next morning and use my headlamps as required on highways in my area, readjustment required and still only vaguely visible under certain lighting conditions! A typical situation that proves Ford had several engineering departments work on this design and NEVER communicated with each other!
