06 zephyr intermittent heat

hi guys. hoping someone can help. i have an 06 zephyr that the heat has all of a sudden become intermittent. sometimes it kicks in after you cycle up/down with the temp controls and most of the time it won't. don't think it is the damper as i can hear the blower/flow changing when i raise/lower temp. the overall temp of the engine is fine. not sure if it is the actual hvac control unit. i know these are electronic so it can be tricky diagnosing. there are no warning lights on either. i just don't want to be killed with diagnosis. any hints would be great as to where to start. i greatly appreciate any help. not sure if this is a common issue.

I don't have a clue, but I wish you luck. Dealer diagnosis fees are outrageous!

Sounds like a possible heater core issue, you know if you lived down south you wouldn't have that problem ;P
