My Lincoln
2007 Town Car Designer Series
I just bought this car and there is a small round hole in the IP right of center below the air vent... what is supposed to be in there?

Here's what it looks like... thank for any help!

I believe that is a passenger air bag warning light indicator. My guess is some stupid person thought it was a button a tried to press it and broke it. It’s probably lying inside the dash now.

G:
I agree with passenger air bag warning light.

Wayne:
I think the slots cover the "In-vehicle temperature sensor". Note that C233 appears to be in the correct location (see attached).

Hello, that is the passenger side airbag indicator. If it's a hole instead of a light, then someone pushed the light inside the dashboard or removed it for some reason. Watch that hole during the startup lamp check and you may see a faint glow down in that hole.

As someone with smaller kids, the light is off with no occupancy, comes on at ~20lbs seat weight to indicate the passenger air bag is DISABLED, then goes back off at some heavier weight (~60ish?) to indicate it is armed/functioning normally.

OP, just as an FYI, if you like RDS data on your radio, you have to press the button once, then use the adjacent select key to turn on or off. If you press the RDS button multiple times it will cycle through other options that you can enable or disable with the select key. Just info you might otherwise never think about (or assume it doesn't work, for years, like I did).

Ogre01, what is RDS data?

Denver, its the Radio Data System ("RDS" button in the middle of the stock radios - but aftermarket usually have the feature as well). If turned on, it will display station call sign, song info, and some of the more clever broadcasters are now putting ads in there (Lol). It also lets you customize station search for types of music (classical, rock, etc) when using Seek. Some weather setting too. Kinda neat, I usually keep mine off, prefer a minimalist static display.
