My Lincoln
Lincoln aviator 23 reserve
So I just bought a 2023 aviator reserve

I did not notice this yesterday or the day before

But today I was driving to the post office with my son and you know when you lower your window down you get that womp womp sound it’s like that constant sound mildy but noticible

And also speeding up from stop is very loud engine sound? Is that normal? I mean I know it’s a v6 twin turbo engine but it just doesn’t feel right

Thoughts? I’ll try to record a better video soon

Here’s the video link

just got my wife a 2023 aviator and I did not notice it yesterday or the day before when we get it
But today I was driving to the post office and I hear this like womp womp sound like you know if someone has a door cranked , it’s like pressure womp sound
Is that normal? I thought this was supposed to be silent quiet drive
I wonder if anc is not working
How can I test that other than taking it to the dealership coz I’m very busy at work right now
And also this rev sounds good when I speed up? Or this should be canceled out as well
Our first Lincoln ever
Thank you

So the "womp womp" sound is called buffeting. That is caused by the disturbed airstream around the vehicle caused by a pressure difference inside the vehicle and outside while driving at speed. Hence why your ears pop/adjust when you close it while cruising down the highway. This can be mitigated however, by slightly closing the moonroof (if you notice your moonroof closing slightly when your speed changes, this is completely normal behavior as the vehicle is programmed to do this automatically to prevent the aforementioned buffeting) or opening another window to equalize pressure differences between the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

The engine noise you are hearing is actually being pumped into the audio system directly from the engine compartment using a sound symposer tube. It IS your engine sound, just amplified for the driving experience. (If we want silence we could drive EVs). The ANC system is programmed this way, and will not block it out completely. It rather focuses on road noise and wind noise/rain etc.

This is normal behavior.

Hey Matt, how can you tell if the ANC is working or not?

We check continuity with all the wiring and verify the mics are working. Theres no real scientific way to go about it unfortunately. You can try unplugging all of the mics in the headliner and see if there's a difference or not, that what we do. Youll need to pull the headliner to get to them though.

Hey Matt, I appreciate your response. I really do.
When you say “ when you close it” what do you mean by that?

The sound I hear, when I was driving yesterday, I can feel a vibration synchronized with the sound womp womp deep bass like sound i am hearing( if I put my hand on the middle storage compartment by my elbow ) it’s very irritating me.

I still hear the sound if I put the windows down a little
Or open the roof

also checked under the car when I got home yesterday and saw this piece hanging low? Not normal?

Could it be my anc not working right too?

When I check the history I see that they replaced the right rear shock, maybe wasn’t done right?

Appreciate you

I have not noticed this in any vehicle I've owned, nor is it mentioned in the Owner's Manual. I did an INternet search on it and the result said it does not self-adjust.

My Nautilus does. It may not be a feature on all vehicles, but the Nautilus for sure does. It isnt mentioned in the owners manual, that is correct, its something just done automatically.

What I meant by when you close it: I mean when you close the moonroof after it being open already, while on the highway (doing 60+ MPH) you can easily feel a pressure difference when it fully closes, usually ears popping.

The exhaust hanging low, I cant tell you from the pictures clearly but you should check the hangers that the exhaust mounts to, make sure they are all secure.

I’ll do that.
I’m going to have them take a look at the car in 2 weeks
I want them to check everything
I explained the sound to them
The sound is very clear to me when I drive around 60 and let go off of gas the sound is perfectly hearablw
If I go to 70 75 I still hear it but more distant but still a vibration ia there synchronized with the sound on the elbow rest area ( the comportment in the middle where you put your stuff in )

When you open the panoramic sunroof, it opens about 3/4 open (look back at how much window is showing after it stops). If you push the open button again, it will open all the way. It will automatically close back to 3/4 when you go over a certain speed so you don't get that loud buffeting sound. My Raptor did that also.

You can have the window open all the way at high speeds if you do the second push of the button while moving at higher speeds. Just make sure you have some side windows down, or else it will buffet very loud.

I forgot to mention that your sunshade needs to be fully open also. You have to do the same procedure like the sunroof ( open the shade once and when it stops push open again and it will be fully opened). the shade will stay fully opened at any speed. It has been so long since I used my sunroof with this crappy cold weather, I forgot.

Yes, that is the way it is supposed to work, and mine does that. What Matt was talking about was that the moonroof would slightly close on its own without the need to press any buttons.

Yes. Like I mentioned, if you have it fully opened after the second press of the button, it will automatically close about 3 inches when going over approximately 30 mph. It keeps the buffeting down at the higher speeds. You can still open it all the way at higher speeds if you push the button again.
I think it will do a slightly close position when you slow below 30, then speed up.

I've never had mine fully open. I'll have to try that when it warms up a little. I haven't seen any mention of it in the manual.
