I got the notice for Safety Recall 25SA2 / NHTSA Recall 25V691 last month in the mail. It mentioned doing a software update through the Automatic Updates with WiFi. I didn't think much of it and just waited. This past week though two things changed. First, I got a text from my Lincoln dealer reminding me of the recall and inviting me to set up an appointment to have them perform the software update. That same day I got a warning that there was a software update getting installed that night.

Hoping that the update at least included the recall, I waited for it to come through but it kept failing each night. It finally installed last night but it was Software Update PHX-25.1.2.5.5 (and evidently included update PHX-25.1.2.4). Per the Lincoln app, the software installed fine but the Safety Recall is still outstanding.

If I had a Lincoln dealer in town, I'd just make an appointment and have them make sure everything is fine. But the closest dealer to me is just over 40 miles away and MY dealer is over 60 miles away. Not exactly convenient.

So, before I contact either dealership, has anybody here successfully had the recall installed through the automatic software update? If so, how did you get it to go through? Is there some trick I'm missing?

Quick update

The dealership texted me again this morning, so I asked if the recall could be done via an over the air software update. They replied "this particular recall requires a hands-on approach by our technicians to ensure it's properly addressed".

Since I've had a nagging problem that I eventually wanted to be looked at anyway (the lock button the door pillar doesn't work) I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for the recall and service work next Monday.

I'm still curious if anybody had this recall done through the software update since that's what the letter in the mail said should work.

It takes several days for the recall status to be refreshed after the vehicle has been updated (OTA or in shop).

I noticed another curious item. The Lincoln Way app now shows recall details (I have two pending) and it says that a fix for 24C43 is available. But when you go to the website and look at recalls, it said that a remedy is still not available. This is the global close issue. Haven't most of you had this done?

Maybe a glitch (24C43 showing), else maybe they've finally truly fixed it (meet both the closing force and reopening requirements) and when a new firmware update is applied they'll be able to re-enable remote close?

Well, no to the second. The remedy described in the Lincoln app says the 'close' is removed

I got the update yesterday. I did not notice any side effects. When I got home, I did reboot.

I used my do not wash sign for the first time to keep them from washing it.
