My Lincoln
2008 Lincoln Town Car
Hello. I am trying to find out if the rear seat from a 1980s Town Car will fit in a 2008 Town Car. I already know that the front seats can be made to fit and work with minor modifications. If anyone has attempted it, how well did the rear seat fit? Any help is appreciated.

Well, I have two reasons. One, the seats are not nearly as comfortable (to me) in the later cars as they were in the earlier cars, specifically the box body cars. Two, I personally prefer cloth seats over leather seats, just more comfortable (to me) and cloth was no longer offered from 98 on.

If it was me I would take the seats to an upholstery shop and have the modifications and fabric done there.
They can add/remove foam for comfort and install what ever leather/fabric you want

I've never had anything reupholstered. How much would that typically go for?

Hi Kirk08TC. I second the advice of oktowncar.

Unfortunately, there is no way to give an accurate price estimate, as it will depend on the type of work you want performed (additional padding etc.), type of upholstery material, material quality etc. etc.

Google “Automotive upholstery shops near me”, then stop by a few, speak to them, tell them what you want and hope to accomplish, and obtain a few price estimates so you can have accurate information and make an informed decision.

If you live in the central/north Jersey area, I can recommend one where I had work done.

Concerning fitting a “1980’s” Town Car rear seat into a 2008 Town Car? My opinion is it would be a very difficult task for a multitude of reasons. You could also ask the upholstery shops what they think.

Keep us updated and good luck.

You would have to talk with the upholstery shop. They will give you better insights than we can

I will just wait until I get my taxes in and hit up a few shops in the area to see what I'll be looking at. Thanks.
