Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Nautilus

One thing that really bugs me is the windshield does not have a deep enough channel to prevent water/washer fluid from coming into the driver and passenger side windows if they are open and the windshield is wet. Nice day with the windows up, big bug hits the glass and you have to roll up the windows before you use the washer fluid or it will drench the interior.

I'd like to have a Nautilus but two things about it are a "no go" for me. First, the tiny 2.0 engine in a car that size. I don't care if it is turbocharged. Do you know how hard that engine will have to work and what a short life it will have? Second the very weak class I tow package. I have a 22 Edge ST that I love, and wanted to move to the Lincoln side now that they aren't making the Edge anymore. The Edge of the same size came with a 2.7L turbo and a class II tow package up to 3,500 pounds.

Coming from a 19 edge ST to a 24 nautilus hybrid, the 2.0 with the hybrid system is not terrible. Its not as fast off the line as the edge but passing power feels pretty comparable. Also with the hybrid system the engine is hardly ever loaded. You only really need to worry about longevity if your in boost and high in the rpms often. Even the gas models don't need to spool the turbo for typical driving.
Your towing concerns are valid, its not because it doesn't have the power though, its the suspension, wheels and chassis. Its built on the same platform as the maverick but the much softer springs wont allow much tongue weight.

2025 Nautilus here.
-The ability to have a default touchscreen view accessed by maybe just a little X on the top left.
Better yet, 4 of these, one on each corner.
-Make the un-used buttons on the steering wheel into custom preset buttons for instant shortcuts to favorite menus/views on the touchscreen.
That would save so much needless looking at the screen while navigating through menus to the most used functions.
-SiriusXM sounds and functions like like crap. constantly dropping out for split seconds especially on the WIFI only channels. Spotify through WIFI is perfect.
Make the Apple Carplay Sirius interface better, it is trash. Unfortunately it is the only way Sirius actually works well.
-A few customizable presets for the vent positions.
-Drive modes should cycle thru when the button is pressed repeatedly, choosing on the screen is an unnecessary distraction.
-Scent selection should stay one what it was when car is turned off/on.
-More backgrounds and useful widgets for panorama screen.
-Ability to customize and make your own or get custom backgrounds.
-A customizable home screen that can link to most used settings from a bunch of virtual buttons instead of having to dig through pages of menus every time.
The map is NEVER needed in 2 places.
-Turn off backup dinging noise, it is so annoying.

Other than that I love the car.

Recently purchased 2026 Nautilus...

Agree to all of the above.
The Sirius interface is clunky at best. It reminds me of something someone designed and built and never used.
I don't seem to be able to get Apple CarPlay to come up by default consistently.
And yes, the scent selection coming up every time I start the car is annoying.
Why can't we select an app (Waze) as the default mapping option? I don't particularly care for Google Maps.

Our scent settings stick with every restart.

Oh another little tweak!
The ability to customize the order in the audio sources list.
I have to scroll down every time I want to switch to Spotify while driving, and it is annoying and distracting.
AM radio in the top 3? I am never going to use that....

Same here, no issues with that. My only open "true bug" is the car-usb-handler not working, so I have to give AudioWagon permission to access the USB every time I start it. That is a true software bug - FoMoCo mucked up, should be storing the permission but hasn't.

Now that I have had the car for a week or so, a few things have really jumped out at me.

1. Google Maps and the default Google Maps interface do not sync with my Google Maps account, even though I am logged in, both on my phone and in the car. Example: I have four favorites in my phone, and only one will be displayed in the Google interface.
2. When using Sirius and in a mapping software, be it Waze or Google Maps, to change the channel, you must take your eyes off the road, switch the display to Sirius, navigate to a page that allows you to see the channel change interface, and then either bump it forward or back. The right-side interface on the steering wheel does not change the channel on Sirius; it moves you to either the beginning or the end of the currently playing song. If using AM or FM, the steering wheel button will change the channel.
3. In the back right side, there is a small cubby hole perfect for carrying a pair of gloves, bug spray, paper towels, etc. Unfortunately, there is no barrier to prevent any items in the cubby hole from moving all across the back side of the vehicle. My 2020 Edge had a similar cubby hole, but it had a barrier to prevent the contents from shifting out of the storage location.
4. The center console provides a very nice, deep storage area. Unfortunately, there is no way to keep a few small items separate from all the other things in there, so they may be more easily accessed. Again, my Edge had a small insert that worked perfectly for things like entry badges, etc.

I love the Lincoln; it is our second one. However, the design engineers appear to be unaware of these types of issues, some of which are easily corrected.

***UPDATE*** Regarding #2 above, the problem was that I was not using Sirius through the radio, but rather through Apple CarPlay. The channels will change when using Sirius through the Lincoln radio, but not through Apple CarPlay. It remains an issue as the interface should be 1. Consistent and 2. not require the driver to mess around with the interface and go 2 or 3 screens deep to change a channel. If you are using Music through Apple CarPlay, the steering wheel interface will change the song as one expects.

Interesting. Thanks! I'll search on Amazon for the tray layer.

I have the large cargo net. At first glance, I couldn't see the smaller velcro nets. I'll look for those too. Thanks!!

Concerning The Google Maps favorites, I doubt that has anything to do with Lincoln. There is no feature parity between Google Maps, Google Maps in Android Auto and Google Maps for Android Automotive. They all have different features and limitations.

Hi Jeff - I just spent an hour or so with my dealer and for whatever reason, the Google Maps interface native to the Lincoln will not save more than 2 favorites or Starred places. He is checking into the issue. Additionally, within the same interface, you cannot delete a recent entry. He is checking into it.

I was spoiled with my 2020 Edge - the native navigation system allowed me to save 20 or more places. You can name them, delete them, all with no problem. That does not mirror my experience with my 2026 Nautilus.
