My Lincoln
2017 Lincoln mkz 2.0 turbo
I have a 2017 mkz 2.0 turbo with 25,000mi. on it. Check engine light shows a p2450 error code. Code states I have a open in the switching valve. The trouble I also have is getting gas to the tank. Is the switching valve attached to the canistor, if so how do I get to it since it is ablove the rear differential?

It is the Evaporative emission vapor vent valve for the fuel tank.
Causes can be:

Faulty Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Fuel Vapor Vent Valve - typically located on or very near the fuel tank
EVAP Fuel Vapor Vent Valve harness is open or shorted
EVAP Fuel Vapor Vent Valve circuit poor electrical connection
Contaminated EVAP Fuel Vapor Vent Valve

As to access to the valve, I have never worked on second Gen Fusion/MKZ or the other related vehicles in the CD4 platform.
I would be seeking the factory shop manual or wiring diagram. (both found on eBay) But that is me.

FWIW, the 2.0 can have common Ford evap systems troubles, most corner garages will start with the harness that goes across the engine, cheaper than debug time. I regret forgetting what it's called but you can expect to need it a time or two - at least I did in our 200k '14 Focus ST.

You may have further trouble considering your fuel fill problem. Do you fill beyond the pump click? That's an easy way to foul the evap system.

^^^ That is a real thing that impacts some models to a greater degree than other models. The difference is how the fuel filler neck, tank and EVAP system is configured.

Space, getting the tank that holds the amount of fuel desired fit into the area with a filler neck that isn't an issue and still comply with EVAP standards and safety standards is a balancing act.
