Does anyone use a USB for their music (Media Player) and have voice commands work?

I just had my late build '24 at the dealer for a week to get the voice commands to work with Media Player. No Joy! It has been escalated to engineering but they still don't have a solution. I'm not blaming the dealer, as they have tried updating everything they can and are at the mercy of Lincoln engineers for a solution.

There is an example of the issue on YouTube found in the link of this post: Voice Command Not Working

If you have had it work, please let me know. Also, let me know the year (24 or 25) of your Nautilus.

Thanks folks.

Have you called the Concierge? They would likely know more than the dealer.

All they say is that they are aware of some folks reporting the same issue and they are looking into it. Make sure my OTA updates are turned on and wait for an update. Same story for the last 8 months.

I am ignorant of other brands but let me ask it this way. If another brand uses Android Automotive Services (not Android Auto) and has voice control that works, what command works there. There are a several scenarios: usb stick on car, music on phone. I am aware of attached phones working but not sure the service in part of services Ford uses as a base.

In the video you posted it mentioned "media player". Is that the name of the app or just a generic app?

I googled and found this... This could get back to having correct meta data to locate song.

When Android Auto or AAOS detects and interprets a voice action, Android Auto or AAOS delivers that voice action to the app through onPlayFromSearch. Upon receiving this callback, the app finds content to match the query string and then starts playback.

Users can specify different categories of terms in their query: genre, artist, album, song name, radio station, or playlist, among others. When building support for search, account for all the categories that make sense for your app. If Android Auto or AAOS detects that a given query fits into a specific category, extras are appended in the extras parameter. You can send these extras:

Media Player is the name of the app that is native to the vehicle via Android Automotive. It is the default app to access your media on the USB stick.

We have tried multiple USB sticks with various music that all work fine in other variants of Fords and Lincolns. If I simply say "Media Player" without additional parameters, it will.say "OK, selecting Media Player" and switch audio input to the USB (which brings up the Media Player on the center screen). After that, it fails on completing any instruction to navigate to any selection within the app even though it repeated back it understood the command and said it was going to execute the command. If I say a command it doesn't understand or misunderstood, it either complains or states it is going g to do the wrong thing (like look for the song on YouTube).

I've posted previously with having problems with this. I just figured I couldn't get the right text string to say. When I'm listening to FM radio, there is nothing I can say to switch to USB. "Media Player" just switches the center screen to the FM radio. "Play ___" just switches to YouTube music and plays something only slightly related to "____". If I am playing USB, I can say "pause", "skip", and "play". All of these work, but any attempt to request specific music doesn't work.

I did some experiments and can play music by selecting them by hand on usb key using some media player but if I try by voice I get to same something wrong error or it asks me to pick a media player app. I do not have Spotify or yt active. I see no way to get Spotify to access local files in settings.

The built in one does not show up in app list so maybe the one that play the various sounds.

I could not find a "free" media player in Lincoln Play Store that plays local files via voice. YouTube reportedly does but requires with premium account. The Lincoln Spotify (free) does not have the local files option like the Android phone Spotify version.

All the more reason for Lincoln to get the native one (Media Player) to work.

After all my experiments yesterday the Nauti decided to display temps in Celsius this morning. A reboot fix that.

I gave up on voice commands for music (on my phone) and use the steering wheel buttons. I can't even get voice to work for calling out, I have to use my phone.

On our '25 R2, Audio Wagon appears to be working well with the 128GB Samsung Fit I pulled from our RX (that one is fully loaded, many 320kbps MP3 albums, that's why I picked up a 256 for the Nautilus).

I use commands like "Hey Google Play Tom Petty Album Full Moon Fever" and it starts at Track 1, keeps playing.

I'll write up the USB drive format when we're back in town, and retest with 256gb Samsung fit. I'll verify base USB format and cluster size, and I'll also write down any notes relative to use of the ID3 tags. I have found mp3 is playing consistently. I haven't tested any of my FLAC stuff yet, need to see if I have any of those loaded.

So, since you mentioned AudioWagon works for you, I installed it and tried it. It works just fine with the voice commands. Thank you so much for pointing me in another direction. The native Media Player bad! AudioWagon good!

Is AudioWagon in Lincoln Play Store. I do not see it on my phone Play Store and see a message is not available for my phone.

Thanks. I was sure the right media player would solve some of these issues. But now I think I have a bluetooth issue with my phone. Maybe it was dropped one too many times.

I got audio wagon working with voice after rebooting. I used an old usb key so idea on file format and mp3s are not sorted in proper folders but I asked to play
Madonna and it did

I am still trying to figure out why voice in AA mode is not working correctly all the time.

It knows I say OK google since it appears on screen but does not respond after the command. No issues in lincoln mode

Audio Wagon note for '25 Nautilus Owners:
"Why does the permission popup appear each time? The “always open AudioWagon …” checkbox does not do anything!

Answer: The 2025 Lincoln Nautilus has this issue, please complain to Ford to integrate the car-usb-handler properly."

I'll log an issue with Concierge, others should too to get it resolved.

I see the same on my 24. Given that Ford is drowning in recalls (people, money) they must be cutting costs any way they can. Earlier this year they let go programmers.
