Have any of you guys had to replace your trunk lid? While I’m asking, replacing the hood also. My car sustained a whole HELL of a lot of HAIL damage and it will cost more than my car is worth. I can get a hood and trunk lid for a whole lot less. I just need to know how difficult it is to remove and replace these items.
Thanks

I don't have any experience with that so I looked in the Service Manual to see if they had any tips and they don't. Trunk hinge bolts are 53 lb-in.

Shouldn't be too bad. Alignment would be the bigger issue.
Measurements and some sharpie markings to help reference things should get you close.

Leave bolts a little loose for body line adjustments and alignment. Once you get close tighten it all up

It is a lot easier with two people. Especially the hood.

Action
That's what I do after a engine swap.Trunk Lid is easier too with 2 people.

I support the hood with pillows/blankets on top of the engine holding the hood up just enough to access the hinge bolts.

Use a paint marker or sharpie to mark the hinge location on the hood before loosening the bolts. If the hood weight shifts during loosening the bolts, adjust the pillows. ;)
