Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Corsair

2 years driving a 2023 Lincoln corsair. It was ordered and rejected and I found it on the lot. Great color burgundy . No moon roof. ( had 3 cars with open roofs. Problems years down the road) it is a loaded standard. Two really pain in the neck issues; The auto stop is a royal pain. The second is total asinine. You can’t just shut off outside air. Have to go into the computer screen ,turn it off and it opens again in 3 minutes. Getting behind a tractor trailer or a bus is a horror show, and driving along and navigating the computer to shut off outside air, the guy who set that up has his head up his bum… has to because he would have smelled exhaust!! Third problem, can’t buy the subwoofer that was left out. Dealer priced it at 550.. and then calls says can’t install? After ownership for 2years…the only difference between a ford dealership and Lincoln dealership…. Lincoln has marble floors. Next car for 10 grand less, will buy a ford.

Re start-stop... You shoulda got the GT trim. It really zips from a stop, using EV to enhance performance.

Re getting Ford instead....
I've no idea how a stripped Corsair compares to an Escape but I think your expectations may be unreasonable. If you wanted s nice car, you shoulda got the GT III. I assure you it is VERY nice.

My 2020 Corsair is also a loaded standard. I chose it because I didn’t want the pano roof and did want the 18 inch wheels.
The auto start stop is a government mandate; Lincoln isn’t the only brand doing it.
I haven’t had the outside air problem.
Mine has a subwoofer.

Hopefully, Lincoln reads these posts...

This is my last post to the Corsair forum. I just traded the car in for a Navigator. Here was my review after owning it for 6 months and 13k miles:

1. Nonstop rattling. Two locations in the dash, one location in the headliner, one location in the door and one location in the tailgate. It was whack a mole in terms of fixing one and another pops up. The two in the dash were the ones that really upset me because Lincoln would not remove the dash and permanently fix the problems.
2. Plastic protector for the sunroof kept falling off. If the piece fell off when the shade was rolled in, it would get jammed in the headliner in the back and would need to take it to Lincoln to replace everything.
3. Steering column plastic protector rotates and messes up eye sensors. This cannot be fixed and is a design issue.
4. Front facing sensor for cruise control would mis-read big dips in the road and long curves in the road making the car hard brake with people behind you who could ram into you. Not sure if this can ever be fixed.
5. Front seats move left to right when turning corners. Can be fixed at the dealer, but should not happen during assembly.
6. Front seats AC ventilation degrades significantly over time for lumbar.

There were probably a few more things that I am missing. As you can see, these are not huge items. But for $70k (GTIII loaded edition), the car should be free from this stuff. The upside to the car was the luxury aspect and the MPG. The PHEV was rated as 34 MPG combined, but I was getting 38 MPG. Mechanically, it is a great car. Zero complaints with the engine and transmission. I never plugged it in so I do not know how that is.

Warning to anyone interested in the Corsair though: DO NOT BUY NEW! The car loses half its value as soon as you drive off the lot. My same car you could get used for $45k or less.

Lincoln had a great sale and finance program for the 2024 Nav's. I could not pass it up and I paid the Corsair to the point where the discount on the Navigator would offset the negative on the Corsair.

Congrats on the new Nav! I have many of the same issues with my ‘23 Corsair Reserve. Especially #1 and 2. Every time I think I have the squeaks and rattles documented and nailed down, another one pops up. I have been considering trading mine in, but probably will not stick with the brand due to so many fit and finish issues with mine (also had to have a part replaced in turbo engine at 15k miles). But I love the styling inside and out so I hate to give it up (and it will be totally paid off in about 11 months). Any advice? I either keep, put up with rattles ans get extended warranty or get a new car - problem is I don’t love what I am seeing from other brands. (Too much in the screen, questionable new design language imo, etc)

Get the Nautilus! I’ve always been a BMW guy, but we bought a 22 Corsair and we love it, unfortunately it’s in the dealership for a rear dif replacement. We were given a 25 Nautilus reserve as a replacement until ours is ready and let me tell you this thing is so much better than my previous BMW’s. The ride quality, miles per gallon. The comfort of the Nautilus is outstanding and we would take this over my X5’s every time. Lincoln has us as new customers for the rest of our life.

I actually still like the Lincoln brand, but ONLY for the Navigator. The primary reason is the Nav has been around for a very long time and uses a lot of what is on the popular F150. Solid build with a long history. But as for the rest of the Lincoln's, I am done. One of them are made in China and the others are put together half assed. And the pricing is completely out of control versus what you can buy from a non-American mfr. Note: I was seriously considering a 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph. Test drove one and man - that is a super sweet, luxury ride. But could not pull the trigger because Nissan may be sold in the next 24 months and support on an Infiniti would be non-existent.

My advice? Keep your Corsair if it will be paid off in 11 months. It is a great car with obviously some design and quality issues. But having some small issues with a car with no payments is something we can all dream about! Just maybe go to your dealer and ask them about a reputable extended warranty. I bought extended warranty twice on a previous Land Rover and as soon as something went wrong, they cancelled my contract and refunded my money.
