Is there a trick. I can’t seem to get the hood to latch. I can’t find anything in the online manual. I am afraid to get too aggressive and damage it because the panels seem so thin. Ugh! Something so simple! I must be missing something.

Hi BLK7404. Not a Corsair, but to avoid pressing on the hood, I simply drop my hood from a height of (guessing) about 12 inches.

Try that, if you haven’t already. If it doesn’t work, the hood latch may need a slight adjustment.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Sadly, that won't work. Even trying to slam it from that height will fail. This is on my list of disappointments on this vehicle. You literally need to put hands on both sides, as you slam it, keep your hands spread out and essentially "follow-through" with the motion. For someone who has closed many hoods over the past 40+ years, this is the most uneasy and disturbing hood closure I have ever encountered. It feels flimsy, it goes against everything in my gut, but it is the only way to close it. I just encountered this today and even with everything I just said, I still failed the first time.

Hi ljnelson. Sorry to hear about your ongoing issue. And also that using the method I mentioned did not help in your case.

Have you ever had the hood latch mechanism serviced/adjusted by your Lincoln Dealership?

On a related note for others in a similar situation: Try adjusting the leading edge hood bumpers down a bit to allow for more downward travel of the front edge of the hood.

Hope you find a solution to your good issue.

Keep us updated and good luck.

wonder how $$$$$$ that will be
Hi DonL. It will cost nothing if performed under the New Vehicle Warranty (4 years/50,000 miles).
And experience generally dictates that is when an issue like this would occur, since latches rarely go out of adjustment. I won’t say never, but certainly rarely.
It would even be covered under a LincolnProtect PremiumCare ESP.

If out of warranty? If am owner is not comfortable adjusting it themself, a good independent service shop or body shop can adjust the latch (if that is the problem), and probably for a little less than a Lincoln/Ford Dealership.

Hope this information helps anyone interested, and good luck.

I finally did get it to close. It seems the only way is to close it is to do it is like you are angry while cursing.

This does NOT require a hood latch adjustment at the dealership. The foam bumper stops above each end of the radiator region are screw adjustable by the owner. If the bumpers are unscrewed counter-clockwise out too far and set too high, the hood latch can have difficulty engaging with normal downward force. Part of the issue is hood strut resistance counteracting the light weight aluminum hood. If your hood requires excess force to close, screw the bumpers in a half turn clockwise at a time to lower them, test, and fine tune with quarter turns. These bumper stops can also help equilibrate right and left hood-to-quarter-panel seam gap (much narrower on the driver's side on my Corsair). Whatever you do, don't press down on the top of the closed hood to engage the latch, as you could dent the hood.

My 2023 GT III doesn't require anything other than letting it fall.
