does charging two times a day negatively affect battery life. Drive to work over 20 miles.

I have "heard" that constant charging is not good for the battery

However, I haven't seen a decline in almost four years of ownership.

My first year of ownership of my '22 GT, I slow-charged my vehicle every night (120v)

I then got a charger installed and upgraded to 240v. Now I do multiple charges a day after every trip just to top the battery off.

And that has been my practice for the past 2.5 years and on a good, hot day, I still get 35 miles of charged availability at startup.

Someone else here may have a more cautious answer

Hi G-779840. Essentially no, and certainly not enough to worry about.

Hybrid vehicle batteries are designed to be charged. In fact, in the vast majority of usage, they are constantly recharged by regenerative braking during normal driving.

As NJRonbo stated, I am sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Doesn't matter how many times you charge a lithium based battery as long as it is getting cycled and not just left on a charger. And it doesn't matter to battery life really whether you "only" recharge to 98% instead of 100%.

Don,

Can I get clarification on your answer?

I leave my car plugged in at all times, though it does get used on an almost daily basis.

Is it okay to leave the car on the charger during the day after it has been charged?

Hard to say, but likely OK or to point it will never be an issue in your ownership timeframe. Lithium based batteries don't really like to be stored at 100%. But how long at 100% is OK who knows.

I'm sure it's OK to leave plugged in however i do believe prudent to program the vehicle to charge less than 100%. I have mine set to 95%; if concerned, 80% might be better.
