A couple weeks ago, I went outside to the mailbox, and I could hear my radio on in the Town Car. I went in the house and got the keys and opened the door. Sure enough it was on. I pushed the volume and turned it off. Then closed the door. Pressed the lock button on the remote and it locked. I have been having a problem with the entry-exit function (until I can get my FORSCAN back on there to disable it) - the seat has been making 'knocking/skipping' noise (I think the gear is stiped). Before I could get 3 feet from the car - it unlocked and I heard the seat 'knocking. Acting like the key is in the ignition (when it is clearly in my hand). I know the car will not lock if the key is in the ignition. I was a very hot day (97 degrees outside and car partially in the sun). The windows are all limo tinted and I have a sun-shade in the windshield. It was warm in the car - but not scorching. I got in the car put the key in and started it. Let it run 3-4 minutes and turned it OFF. Took the key out and got out. Pressed the button and again - unlocked and seat knocked. I opened the door and the 'key in' chime sounding. pushed radio knob and it came on. No key in the ignition. I put key in again and turned back and forth 3-4 times and removed key. Original to the car key, BTW. Removed it and got out. This time the car stayed locked.

About 3 hours later I was going to take the Town Car out for a drive and the battery was completely dead - would not even unlock the doors. The battery was just installed in DEC 2024 (DuraMax Pro (84 month battery).

I am at a complete loss as to what is going on, I take very good care of 'Aunt Lin' and now this. Some Googling say lock cylinder issue - but if you replace that - does it use the existing keys? I am looking for some advice on how to resolve the issue.

Regardless of how " New " the battery is get it load tested and replaced if necessary.
One bad battery cell can bring in lots of strange gremlins

Right now the battery is completely dead.

I still want to know what is eating the battery - and why the car is acting like it is possessed.

Post #2 then IF the battery passes the testing then you need to find a short to ground somewhere
Took battery to AUTOZONE where I bought it, and they tested it. Had a BAD CELL. Replaced Free of Charge. Now I see if the gremlins are gone. I took Aunt Lin for a drive after replacing battery...gonna need a longer drive to reset the P1000 code which set due to the dead battery. Needs a 30-50 mile trip, usually. Got home and the lock-unlock did not happen again and the car appears to have 'shut off the radio' when I opened the door.

I still need to change the ENTER/EXIT setting until I can get the seat motor/gear fixed.
