Any way to adjust the start/stop feature so it engine doesn't stop so soon after a stop? I mean it makes no sense for it t stop while I stop at a 4-way stop sign intersection with no other cars there. Guess I could not fully stop and roll through it, but ....

I turn off the auto start/stop as soon as I start the car each time. I keep vehicles for a long time and this feature is just added wear to the starter, battery, and engine. You lose oil pressure and circulation keeping your bearings well lubricated every time it shuts off, gas is cheaper than an engine rebuild.

I did a web search and the results specially say that the auto stop/start does NOT cause extra wear for vehicles designed for it.

I just want to reduce the VERY short time cycle of it.

still reading my 635 page manual (eye roll)

There are absolutely no adjustments for auto start stop. There are devices available that will eliminate it altogether that do not void your warranty. I installed one on my wife’s Corsair in 2020. Easy to install - then just forget about it.

I also turn mine off when I start the car. It has become automatic for me.

It was worth asking (t me)

It is only day 3 with car for me. I don't mind the car turning engine off at stop lights, but a a 1 second stop sign it does.

I am in Florida and starting soon it probably wouldn't stop at all because of the air conditioning.

Bet I get used to it.

I saw today that the EPA is targeting the auto start/stop technology!!! The whole thing was basically a scam and has not shown a clear reduction in emissions tests. There is also an increased number of accidents due to vehicles not restarting soon enough to clear an intersection or when turning across traffic lanes. Even the claim that that it didn't harm the cars engines due to robust starters and batteries was proved not to be true as you are still losing oil pressure while the engine is stopped and that can cause additional engine wear on bearings, starters and batteries. I'm hoping this feature can be changed in my car with a future software update and allow me to permanently turn it off versus each time I restart the engine.

The auto start-stop annoyance has never worked in my vehicle until last Friday in the Costco parking lot. I had no idea what happened as it has always been disabled without my pushing the button. It worked for 1 day, and now has disabled itself again and the "OFF" light is not illuminated under the button. I bought this in Oct 2024. The Lincoln dealer has no idea how this is happening and has sent a report to their technical rep. at Ford.

I bought my 2023 Corsair Reserve used in Oct 2024. The auto start-stop annoyance has never worked an the "OFF" light under the disable button is not illuminated. Sorry, it worked for one day and has now (thankfully) disabled itself again. The dealer cannot determine how this is happening. This is a "covid era build" vehicle and has the premiere level radio with the premiere level wiring harness.

I totally agree. Our recently purchased used 2020 Nautilus, that the wife just had to have, does not seem to have any way to defeat the action. I wish there was simply a fuse that could be pulled or even a schematic available so I could modify the wiring, such that the system would sense the button "being pushed" shortly after turning on the vehicle.

I use mine all the time, except in stop and go traffic. When your engine stops, yes you lose oil pressure. But there is no additional wear on the bearings. Oil by nature of "film strength" will stay on a surface for quite some time without pressure. (days, weeks) So, for the short time the engine is off, it is of no consequence. The starters and batteries for these vehicles are designed for this type of duty. My original battery is still in my 2020. These batteries are not standard lead acid batteries, and you should never use one with the start/stop feature. There is very little delay when restarting as well. By time I take my foot off the brake and move it to the accelerator, the engine is running, and I go. When I did my daily commute before retirement, I was getting an extra .7 mpg on a tank full while using the start/stop. I know everyone's driving habits are different and many may hate this feature. I just don't see any negative effects like what are being posted here. The start/stop feature is NOT for emissions. It is to boost the Corporate CAFE rating. (mileage)

I've heard both sides about whether it causes excessive wear and both sound convincing. The government were the ones who mandated this thing so I am naturally suspect about its efficacy. Idk about that for sure, just that it was disconcerting every time it went off. Probably would have gotten used to it with time ... if I had given it time. My pre-go routine is pretty ingrained now ... parking break off, auto-stop/start off, drive selector (D/R), go. I'd welcome a software update that let the car remember the off selection, though.

Never had a problem on my 2022 corsair. But the dealer told me that on 2025 GT hybrid, there is no way to turn it off.
