Blue Cruise Subscription Expiring

Yes Sga, I found that quite interesting as well. Sometimes I think that there are different interpretations because of the wrong use of terminology/wording. Example, I've seen some folks on this site not understand the difference between Blue Cruise and Cruise Control and often that's where the misinterpretations exist. I stick by my post from yesterday as being a 100% fact. In any case, I was the original creator of this post...I got my question answered, I did re-subscribe for two more years and did use my remaining Lincoln reward points to provide some discount off the original BC price.
I certainly concede that I don't know Lincoln's official termnalology so someone who truly does understand might well be correct that I mis-speak in a legal sense. But in the context of this thread of Blue Cruise renewal or not I do firmly claim with certainty that Lincoln does not make it clear what all you give up if you do not have a subscription so if you care you must have the subscription, whatever the correct terminology.

I don't know how to enable all "not BC" without also enabling BC so I cannot perform a test.

Attached is a screen shot, taken while driving on urban Waco, TX, that I believe is reasonably assumed a Blue Cruise icon.

Hi Greerl, the photo you attached is your car telling you to put your hands on the steering wheel cos BC is Not available… At least for that moment. The reasons it’s not available could be many… perhaps your not on a designated mapped road, but it could also be because the system is having difficulty reading the lane markers, or the roads curve is something the system can’t handle at that moment, or there is construction going on and the system is having a hard time keeping the car in its lane. These are all examples that I’ve experienced using BC at certain times, resulting in seeing the same visual that you posted = hands on wheel. I don’t use cruise control, but I’m guessing that when you got the visual of hands on the wheel, the car was operating in cruise control, or if not, cc was available if you wanted to use it. Regarding what you may or may not lose if you didn’t subscribe to BC, that’s an interesting question. I would hope that you wouldn’t lose anything except what bc does = no hands driving, as I’d presume you would retain all the features of cc… but I don’t know for sure cos I resubscribed a few days before it was scheduled to disappear.

My 2023 two year BC subscription is expiring in a few weeks. To continue service, Lincoln's offer is $450 for two years, or $75 a month. I like BC but being retired, I'm only putting about 7k miles on the car, and very little of that is using BC, so I'm on the fence about whether to pay or not. It is wonderful on a long trip, but I just don't know how many of those I'll be taking in the near future. Wondering if anyone who did NOT resub scribed, received any type of promotion from Lincoln after the service deadline, or if anyone is receiving different rates from Lincoln for BC? In other words, is Lincoln giving any discounts to keep you as a BC subscriber...kind of like Sirius XM which will continue to lower their offer price multiple times after your subscription has expired.
One more subscription question for the group. I did resubscribe online a few weeks ago. There was a website response that my request was being processed. But I have seen no communication since then. Did you folks have the same experience? Did you ultimately receive confirmation that the service was renewed? As always thanks for your feedback.

Yes, I had the same experience. Called Lincoln and found out that the new subscription won’t start until the existing one expires, then on the next day, you will receive a confirming email and they will charge your credit card… and that’s exactly what happened.

I don't recall if I received a confirmation or not but if you select Connected Services in the Lincoln Way app, the section for Blue Cruise will show you your expiration date.

Thanks dk. Odd that they don’t send a note confirming that you’re cued up for renewal. Hopefully it will all go as planned (it my life it rarely does 😜).

I loath car subscription tactics but do appreciate BlueCruise operation when droning along on a freeway. Guess I'm forced to pay. I'd prefer to just keep the current installed BC version at 0 cost and forgo updates, but of course that is not an offered option.

The only keep what you have not being an option may be because no one is getting am update anyway. I'm waiting 2+ years for an update; I'm not aware of anyone receiving a BC update.

That seems to be correct, I’ve been told by my dealer that the only car’s eligible for BC updates at this time are Mustang Mach E’s. When you pay to renew your currently installed BC, you just get to keep the version you currently have, vs if you don’t pay up, BC usage is deleted from your car.

I won't be renewing mine. Ford has now announced that 1.5 requires new hardware and that you must buy a new vehicle with said new hardware to get it. The furthest we will ever see is 1.4.

F150's are receiving the 1.4 upgrade. Ford has SIGNIFICANT issues with OTA's for bluecruise which caused them to pause all upgrades for almost a year before restarting them about 2 weeks ago. We should see 1.4 at some point but that's as far as we will get, according to Ford.

I just got my Comma 3x device today and can confirm that it works on my 22 Navigator after installing the BluePilot open source software. This may be an alternative to those that don't want to renew there BlueCruise subscription but still want to have self-driving capabilities.
