My Lincoln
2024 Nautilus Black Label
This evening when I got into my ‘24 Lincoln Nautilus, I had a System Software Notification on my center screen:

While I certainly do appreciate a “Battery Saver Update”, what slightly confuses me is what “camera efficiency” has to do with Battery Saver?

Does this mean that the center windshield camera (behind rear view mirror) , front grill camera, back tailgate / license plate camera, as well as the two side mirror cameras are all ON after the engine is shut off. And do they stay on all the time??

If it’s not that, then what “camera” are they referring to?

This sounds like CSP 24P08 - Driver camera battery drain. When you turn the vehicle off, some software continued to run causing a drain on battery.

Any chance that this situation, cameras continuing to run when the vehicle is turned off, is connected to the message I get then I turn the car off? The message I get is, "Do I want to continue the operation of "proximity alerts"? To which I usually click "OK" and let the "alert" protection run.

I may have the exact language of the message a little off but the above is what I believe it is asking. The message can be missed. I only see it when I park it in the garage and I am watching the large screen to make sure the car is off. I don't usually get this message parking at the grocery store as an example.

I believe that message is asking about the interior motion sensors as part of the security system, @gfdublin. You may want them off if you have your dog in the car or something.

What would be odd, @RussW, is if you hadn't had 24P08 already applied. That was a CSP from last summer. Can you confirm whether you had that applied? Because if you did, it would be interesting as to what update you were receiving now.

There is a setting in your car's settings menu where you can disable this repeated prompt. As swindler says above, look in security motion sensors section of the settings for your options.

Actually, I think the OTA update I received might just have been 24P08 because I found this:

So, my ‘24 Nautilus BL may have been in the “pause” and only now has it resumed. And interestingly, I have never experienced a “power save mode” situation. So I’m not sure.

I guess it’s good that it installed.

I got this update prompt today when I was ready to leave for some shopping. I decided to postpone it until I got to my destination.
Well, before leaving home my battery was at 60%. Drove 15 miles (about 30 minutes) and the battery was at 85%.
While I shopped the update was installed. I did not check the battery before returning home, but I got home the battery was back at 60%. For for this to take place right after the update that was supposed to improve the battery drain.

The software fix addressed battery drainn if OFF state not operational state.

How are you determining state of charge?
Sorry that I didn't specify it, but I was just poking a little fun.
As for your question, the numbers come from the Ancel BM300 Battery Monitor.

This has been mentioned on here a few times, but the SOC number from the BM300 is an estimate based on voltage only. It knows nothing about the operational state of the vehicle and the current load, it knows nothing about whether it's currently charging or how long it's been since the last charging state (which affects the battery settling voltage). Ideally, the SOC is measured after the battery has sat out of circuit for several hours, not in-circuit when the vehicle is still whirring, popping, and blinking. Really, the only SOC estimate of real value is from the BMS itself, which unfortunately, is not exposed to consumers. I have seen it reported to the Lincoln cloud, and is presumably available to Concierge or service technicians, etc.

It's still better than nothing or than that chart that floats around.
For me the main use is to know when to get the charger out.

Understood. To be effective, you should establish a routine for when you measure it. Like for example, 2 hours after an end of drive, or first thing in the morning.

It's like weighing yourself on a scale. You need to do it at the same time, everytime, to get equivalent readings or your weight will bounce around.

On ignition shutdown, I get a dashboard alert asking if I want the interior motion sensors on/off. I couldn't find info that alert in my operator's manual so I suspect the alert is based on a past software update.

Today, my dealer's mechanic checked the 2024 Nautilus hybrid for software updates. He told me my vehicle checked out as having all the updates available that relate to battery drain. The last update on my vehicle was related to the "driver attentiveness camera" unnecessarily activating while ignition off.

He's wrong. That feature has always been there. It's asking if you want the interior motion sensors active as part of the security system operation while the vehicle is locked.

There are circumstances where you may not. Someone in the car while you shop, the dog in the car (windows cracked, of course), balloons maybe? I'm these cases you those sensor off.

Here's a reference to it in the manual.

I think perhaps you misread the post. The mechanic did not comment on an update for motion sensors; his comment was on the update for the "driver attentiveness camera" as it may relate to this thread ‘24 Nautilus- new update - Battery Saver & camera efficiency".

Yep, you're right. I thought the two paragraphs were connected and the mechanic was saying the update was to prevent that message from accidentally appearing or something.

Read it too fast. Regardless, I was explaining the motion sensor question. 👍

You know what else will set off ultrasonic interior alarm sensors? Insects. Back when the LincolnWay app would alert for vehicle breaches, I fully expected to find a busted out window (no corresponding alert for opened door/hood/hatch). But alas I had left the moonroof in 'vent' overnight and I had a couple of ladybugs flying around.

My wife’s Nautilus alarm would go off as many as 3 times in the parking lot often. We went through menu system and toggled off “Interior Motion Sensor”. It never acted up again.

A few weeks later the alarm went off again, and I went into the menu section and for some reason the interior sensor was active again. When I toggled it off again, it never did it since.

I don’t know if a bug or whatever set it off, but this was in winter.

How do you know this? Is there a way to tell what your battery percentage is?

I use the Ancel BM300 Pro Battery Monitor. It is connected to the battery and has a Bluetooth connection to my phone. It records the battery voltage, the battery SOC and the area temperature and it alerts you (as long as the Bluetooth connection is active) when the battery level drops below setpoints. The app for the BM300 Pro handles up to 4 monitors. There are other models. Just search for battery monitor.
