Anyone able to help me identify what this wire connector is supposed to be connected to? It is a 6 pin/wire female connector that splits from the main wire harness by the throttle body. There is nothing on the air intake box before the throttle body that this can connect to.

Hi jcook024 and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. It would seem that should plug into the plastic air box/intake, but you say there is no connector.

We are currently experiencing a sleet/ice storm here, so if no one else replies with a definitive answer, I will take a look under the hood of my 2007 3.5L when I can and post back.

Good luck.

I would be surprised if there was no air flow sensor (MAF) of some type. This monitors air into the engine. The PCM uses the data to control fuel injection squirt time.

Would be located down stream of the air filter and up stream of the throttle body.

Doing a search for a 2011 MKZ 3.5 V6 MAF sensor, I get the attached picture.

Thank you for that idea, the MAF sensor has a connector already plugged in and it is closer to the air filter. The connector I am trying to identify is closer to the throttle body (not the connector for the throttle body as it is already connected).

How many pins and what does it look like?

Is the engine running?

Looking at RockAuto under electrical connectors, the only suspect 6 pin connectors I see is the MAF/IAT sensor and Throttle Position sensor?

If not one of those, based on location, my thought was perhaps CHT sensor or camshaft sensor, but those are not 6 pin connections.

6pin, I haven't got it put back together yet
At last resort, when you put it back together and crank the starter, the system will generate a code. Many times to get the code the engine does not have to start, just crank.

+1 to driller, in that area is the CHT, cam sensor and maybe a temp sensor. None of which have 6 pins.

The professional solution would be to get an under $20 wiring diagram from eBay. Unless it is a hybrid, then the wiring diagram costs less. (Supply and demand)
The wiring diagram describes connectors, their location and configuration. And a whole lot more.
