It is turbo. But I don't believe it's the turbos. The car only has 65,000 miles on it. And I have an ecoboost f150 and it has 200,000 on original turbos. I'm hoping it's a pulleyIf its the 3.0 Turbo, then its probably your turbos failing. I think turbos don't last too long with Ford's extended oil service specs. Any turbo should have oil changed every 3000 miles, even synthetic.
If its not a turbo, then it could be your bearings on your belt tensioners. If not tensioners, then check alternator or anything running off the serpentine belts.
....and please don't do what I did and try to put grease inside those worn bearings. These are sealed bearings. The seal broke and grease flew over the belts. The belts came off and wrapped themselves over the crank and cracked the block on my 1996 BMW M3. ( It was the early 2000's and I was a stupid, poor kid.)
Did you ever figure out what this problem was? I have something that seems very similar. It is turbo. But I don't believe it's the turbos. The car only has 65,000 miles on it. And I have an ecoboost f150 and it has 200,000 on original turbos. I'm hoping it's a pulley
Nope I'm just driving itDid you ever figure out what this problem was? I have something that seems very similar.
Can you describe what you hear? Is it at idle, at a certain RPM, between certain RPMs, etc?If you're still driving it with the groan (as I am mine), at least with mine it's bad mounts. If you haven't checked this, just pull your air box and look for an old leak, you can't miss it.
