89 Town Car digital fuel gauge

I still have the fuel sending unit on my shelf in the garage. Just to confirm, this is the fuel level sending unit for the digital gas gauge.
Yes my car has the digital dash and almost always reads empty, I live in Canada though but if you’re willing to ship it with UPS/FEDEX we can work something out, as long as the unit works fine.

I can ship UPS. I would suggest you make sure your sending unit is defective first before buying. Wait until you have less than a 1/2 tank of fuel. Jack up the rear of the car and place jackstands on the frame so that the rear axle drops down. Remove the connector, then use a small chisel and hammer to remove the metal O-ring on the sending unit. While sending unit is out of the tank, connect an ohm meter and see if the ohms change while you move the float arm. If no change, the sender is bad. If it does change, you could have a faulty fuel gauge circuit. You can send me a private message with your address so that I can get a price for shipping. The fuel sending unit I have works properly. I bench tested it and also check the resistance with an ohm meter.

Going to be honest with you, I don't know how to send a direct message. Maybe just shoot me an email at redacted

Not that I am far off from a caveman - thanks for the tip, it appears my browser doesn't like this site because that option doesn't appear.
😄 Reached the gentleman by email anyhow.

Clicking on the username will also open up their profile page and you will also see the message option appear as well

I'm going to try that first. I'm hoping maybe the float got a hole in it and filled with gas causing it to fall to bottom of tank even though tank is full. I just got this 89 Cartier. My dad bought this Lincoln in 1990 from our neighbor who was a salesman at a local Lincoln dealership. It was a trade in that looked like the day it rolled off the assembly line. I think it had about 3,000 miles on it when he bought it. My dad always parked car in the garage. Never seen snow or salt covered roads. Barely saw any rain either. Then he sold it to my brother who kept car garaged and was never taken out in snow or ice also. Now I own it. Has 102K miles on it now. I just replaced the rear shocks because it was sagging in the rear a little. The rear shocks might have been the originals (the fronts were changed). The top nut of shock spun off like it was installed a week ago. Zero rust or corrosion. No salt roads and always garage are life savers on these older cars.
