Hi BA789. Blind Internet diagnosis? There are more than a few possibilities.
- Alternator/alternator pulley issues.
- Power steering pump/pulley issues.
- A squeaky pulley in the drive belt system.
- etc. etc.

If you open the hood and stick your head in, can you isolate it to any of those possibilities?

If not, you may need to enlist a knowledgeable car enthusiast family member/friend, or a shop you trust.

I’m sure others will jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck. 🍻

Oh my!! I have the same issue on my 2021 Navi Reserve. Took it to the Dealer (Denver) and they told me its normal...it's the "Turbo" charger. Do I believe the dealership? Heck NO!! Will take the vehicle to another shop for further diagnosis.

Hi gang. Just to avoid confusion, especially for those reading/using their phone to reply:
The OP’s signature/profile states he has a 2004 Navigator.

Good luck. 🍻

Thanks so much for your response. I intially thought it might be alternator or water pump bearing but it kind of changes pitch occasionally like a fan motor so i thought it might be the blower motor but turning it off made no difference. It has 150000 on it none of these things have been replaced since new so it could be any of these things, but im leaning towards the thermostatically controlled fan or alternator. Havent really been able to get out and check it good its been so rainy and cold here .

I have the same issue on my 04. It’s got right at 250000. But mine sounds more like an air intake whistle. Had a K&N but switched back to the original.
