My Lincoln
2025 Lincoln Aviator
I just picked up my 2025 Lincoln Aviator and refuse to install the front plate on the beautiful grill. Told the dealer not to install it. In Ontario front plates are mandatory. I wanted to place it below the grill, but there seems to be a flat plastic moulded plate on the bottom grill trim. Does anyone know if this is a sensor of any kind? If so for what option?

On our 2022 the flat plastic areas have the adaptive cruise/collision avoidance sensors behind them. I would assume the same for 2025.

I don't think you have much choice regarding a mounting position. The 2025 is like the 2022 described above regarding that flat area. At least with mine it blends in with the vehicle's colour.

I'm glad Florida doesn't require front plates. The front plate really detracts from the great looks of the Aviator where Ford decided to mount it IMO.
I wonder if an "off center" mount could be fabricated below the grill so as not to interfere with the sensors? At least the plate would be lower and perhaps less noticeable that way.

So it’s confirmed that the collision sensors are directly behind the middle flat panel in the middle of the bottom grill, for anyone know if the flat panels on the sides have any sensors behind them? Looking to do a side mount

I haven't checked those areas. Why not take a look and see what's there?

Peter

its a closed housing behind the side grill so you can really see anything. For the middle, you can clearly see the sensor module that sits directly 6-8 inches behind it

Was that supposed to read "you can't really see anything"?

picked up my 2025 aviator today and I'm also in Ontario.

The front plate looks a lot better with a tinted license plate cover...still illegal per the HTA but I can't stand how it looks without it haha

Did you do a side mount (off center) on that lower grille? If so, how?

NO I haven't as of yet, still haven't confirmed if there are any sensors behind the skirt on the sides

I found an after market side mount, installed it on the lower bumper, beneath the sensor. Looks decent and doesn't interfere with anything. I have a 2025 Aviator.

that’s great, love to see a photo of it. What site did you buy it from?

I would also like to see a picture of the placement.

The dealership told me they can't put the license plate on spot below the grill because it is a sensor. I asked the same thing why take away from the grills appearence.

Several others have asked for the same thing without any results. The member was last seen here in July and that was his only post.
All the aviators that I've seen have the plate mounted where the manufacturer has suggested.
