After a buyback of my 2020 Aviator for more issues than I have time to type out, I special ordered a 2022 Reserve. It’s had a few hiccups that they are still working on. I’m currently around 35k miles.

The worst issue showed up 2 nights ago. The interior and exterior lights went on and off for several minutes. No reason. Both fobs are inside our house. The car was locked. Noone was outside messing with it. We discovered this going on by our Ring being triggered. It did it again this morning just before 1am 😡 Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Do you have phone as a key set up? Is it possible that it senses the phone every now and then?

Hi Tina. Just digging a little deeper: In addition to motion sensing, your RING doorbell is triggered by light only?

Let us know and good luck.

Well this is a first of light only so yes the light only is triggering it. I just thought it was movement but of the 4 triggers, I have zoomed in and studied the video and there is absolutely no movement at all. Only the lights. 2 nights ago it was 3 triggers with 8 successions of the lights. Last night it was one trigger with only 1 light.

Yes I do have my phone set up. I’ve had the car for over a year now and it’s never done this before. I got out of bed last night to make sure I had both fobs because I have left them in the car before.

I wish I could post the video or how it does. It’s like the inside lights come on, brake lights up then the headlights fade on. Then they turn off in backwards order. 2 nights ago they went on and off about 8 times within 2 or 3 minutes. This morning it was one time.

Hi Tina. The reason I ask is I am not aware of light being a trigger for RING doorbells, cameras etc. I did a quick Google search, and what I found states that light does not trigger ring doorbells. Only motion, for a properly working system.
The exception would seem to be a strong light aimed directly at the doorbell or camera lens, like a flashlight/laser. Perhaps your car headlights point at the lens/camera and are turning it on?
Of course, it is possible I missed something in my quick look.

I realize that does not change the fact that your camera is showing your vehicle interior/exterior lights coming on. But it seems it may not be the vehicle lights that are triggering the RING. It would normally be caused by the RING sensing some sort of motion.

Perhaps another member with more expertise on RING doorbells can weigh in.

Keep us updated and good luck.

We’ve had the car for over a year and I’ve parked in the same spot as well. I’ve zoomed in and looked at every section of the screen and there is no movement at all. Not even a big flying around. So I just don’t know.

Hi Tina. Your best bet may be to try and make a recording of a few of these occurrences. Then set up a service appointment to have the vehicle systems checked out. Or have it checked next time it is in for routine maintenance.

Hopefully another member may be able to jump in with more help.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I did take screen recordings and have already sent them to the GM at our dealership. I was just curious if anyone else had similar issues. This will probably be my last Lincoln unfortunately. I have a 16 MKX that I loved dearly and had no issues. I upgraded to a 2020 aviator and had so many issues it was terrible but they did a buyback. I’m having a lot of issues with this one and this is just something new on top of everything else.
Thanks for your replies.

Unless this is a change from the 2020 model, the headlamps do not fade ON or OFF. The parking lamps/DRL LED strip, however, does.
Perhaps there is an issue with the BCM (Body Control Module).

Anyone find a solution? My 2020 aviator welcome lights come on and off by themselves causing the battery to drain. I had to disable the feature in the settings ...are there any fixes?

Hi g-52. Could you provide a bit more information/context as to how and when this occurs?
Are you or anyone else near the vehicle with a keyfob?
Are the keyfobs hung up/stored in your home within ~20 feet or so of your Aviator?
Does this occur continuously, or only a few times and then ceases until after the next time the vehicle has been driven?
Is your 2020 Aviator still within the 4 year/50.000 mile New Vehicle Warranty, or an ESP which covers electronics (i.e. LincolnProtect PremiumCare)?

If the keyfobs are nowhere near your vehicle when this occurs, it would be best to schedule a service appointment with your Lincoln Dealership and have them properly diagnose and correct this issue.

I am sure others will jump in with more help and advice, so keep us updated and good luck.

Key fobs are in the house.welcome lights randomly come on anf off by themselves. It is CPO 31k miles. The dealership already replaced the light control module and I noticed it started happening again.

I have a 2021 Aviator Hybrid and I noticed the same thing one evening when I walked by it while it was charging in the garage. The lights came on and off and the vehicle lowered. Both keybfobs were inside the house. Yes i also have my phone connected. I used ti keep both fobs near the garage so I moved them away from there but I forgot my phone is also connected.

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
Does this happen when you are near the vehicle? Do you have the PAAK (Phone As A Key) feature activated?

Just checking to see if anyone found out the cause of this issue? I have a 2020 Aviator with 32k miles and just starting having an issue a couple weeks ago. Battery drained, replaced battery and it drained again. Recharged battery then noticed that not all of the exterior light were going out. Have to cycle power and mess with it to get them to go off but even when they do, the approach lighting will come on randomly or the interior lighting will not go off. Car is in the garage with key fobs a good distance away. Not using phone as key, I am currently, literally, sneaking up on the car in the garage to check and see if the lights are back on or not. Open the garage door and see the lights on then they go off while I'm standing there. Hoping someone has had this repaired to give me an idea of what's causing it and home much it's going cost me since out of warranty. Thank you for any information or guidance.

Welcome to the Forum, 👋
It's hard to say what the issue might be. None of the others have followed up on their posts.
Disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes or so before reconnecting has been known to solve some issues. You will likely lose some saved memory items if you wish to try that. Otherwise, if there are no other suggestions, take it to the dealer to have them check it out. I'm guessing the warranty period has run out? If still within the warranty period take it to the dealer before doing anything else.

Thank you Peter. Yes, bumper to bumper is expired. I had the negative cable disconnected overnight and the issue was still present within 10 minutes of reconnecting. The vehicle makes some random clicking type sounds just before the lights cycle on and off. I placed the spare key FOB in the console of the vehicle and it stopped cycling the lights for about 5 hours then started back up again. I'm waiting for a call back from the local Lincoln service department to see if they can shed some light. If they give me some idea of what it might be, I'll pass that info along. Thanks.

My lights would randomly come on when I first got mine. I would get up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water and my lights would be on or going off. This happened when I parked further into the driveway closer to the part of the house where I had the extra fob stored. I relocated the fob to another part of the house and it solved the problem. The lights will still come on if I walk into that room with the fob in my pocket. Don't know if there is a way to turn down the range.

According to several videos, the Lincoln Welcome or Embrace lighting should activate once it detects the keyfob. The range is said to be about 8-10 feet.
