There have been several posts about the unresponsiveness of the lock icon on the driver side keypad. I have had the same issue and have resorted to either hitting the door lock button on the inside of the door before closing it, or using the two finger 7-8/9-0 press (which works every time).

That said, I recently figured out if I simply put my thumb on the bottom third of the lock icon (not smack in the middle as I had been doing) the lock icon works pretty much every time. I'd love for some others to try it and let me know if they have the same success as I've been having.

I have noticed that the touch-sensitive area of the padlock icon seems to be at the lower part of the ‘padlock’.

I'm going to give that a try in the morning. I've been using the 7-8/9-0 combo since week 2.

Tried touching the lower part of the lock today and it worked every time. I tried about 30 times and it worked every time so I think that is the trick. Touch the lock body not the lock open bar at the top.

I have found it inconsistent.

Targeting bottom half of lock seemed to work pretty well for us of late.

Today, I tried the lock icon and no joy. Then I pressed the 1-2 then lock symbol and then it worked. I will try to see if that is one trick.

We have been lucky with touching at the bottom of the lock icon.

I have touch all around the lock button so not sure what your bottom is.

Our first Naughty was not very good about sensing and locking either. This 2nd one works well, especially if you touch the bottom outline with your finger. The only times it has not worked, seemed to be related to standing sideways with the FOB in the opposite pocket.

I have noticed this also.

Furthermore, after my vehicle was in service to get the camera module and 24b09 completed, I felt like it was more responsive. Or maybe I got better at poking. Both are unlikely but possible.

The owner's manual mentions a "brief delay" before it will lock so playing with keypad also increases time for fob/phone to be recognized.

Today I wanted to test a new Faraday keyfob bag so went to my ‘24 Nautilus without my iPhone (set up as Phone As Key) and with my FOB in the Faraday bag. The Bag works - FOB not recognized. So I unlocked by entering my code on the keypad - all good. Then I attempted to lock with the Padlock icon … would not work … but the 7-8 9-0 worked. My conclusion: the Padlock Icon only works if a ‘Key’ is detected.

I’m at about 85% with the lock icon these days. I’ve also tried to get in the habit of pressing the lock button on the inside of the front door when I exit the vehicle, and that’s the easiest way. (Unless you need to get something out of the back seat or the rear hatch).

You can lock the door as you exit and still access the rear hatch. When you close the hatch, the car will still be locked.

When I am out driving, I usually use the interior lock button. When I had the MKZ, I used the fob but do not convenient now since I have it in pocket rather than locking while putting in pocket.

Touching the bottom of the lock works every time for my wife and I. Thanks for the heads up.
