2024 Nautilus software and battery issues

yes we have had the battery quit 3 times, the last time it was a brand new battery installed by the dealer. I would love to hear from anybody else that has had this problem and what the fix is
I posted in another thread that I just had the battery quit for the first time after 123 days of ownership. In our situation, the car had just taken a round trip to the store and we received the Deep Sleep message 90 minutes after we returned home. Everything was flat dead and it took a handful of minutes of charging before the lights came back. I don't believe that's a bad battery (although it may be now). That's some function misbehaving and draining the battery.

I am convinced there is battery drain issue. I drove 2 hrs round trip and battery did not appear full and dropped every day. I charged it some today. I kept thinking the boat trip did not help either. I do not think it is fobs too close to vehicle, etc. I may try to attach an ammeter to check draw. Do you lose profiles if battery is disconnected?

If the battery dies, is a battery tender able to charge it enough to start it? I’m not very mechanically inclined, nor am I used to having to get under the hood lol.

Generally no, in that simple battery tenders are not designed for a recovery charge when the battery voltage is very low. They're mostly designed to top-charge a good battery. But many chargers these days are now available as smart chargers that have multiple modes of charging including a recovery or reconditioning charge. But they must be of higher amperage to work well with a 'dead' car battery.

I suspect it depends on the battery condition - just discharged or what degree it wil hold a charge. I would like to think the high volt battery charges the 12v when need engine starts. There is no needed for an alternator like in regular engine.

My older Schumaker maintainer cannot fully charge a higher ah battery since it puts out 1.5amps and will cut off within 24+ hr at max 1.5a but can restore some.

We didn't lose the profile when the battery was fully drained. It would have been nice to check just how low the voltage fell. I was going to check it and jump it myself, but our Anker jump starter was also dead. (I wonder how the Nautilus did that? 🤯) So I called Roadside Assistance. I am considering installing at least a voltage logger that I already have. One with a shunt for current monitoring would be ideal, but I left all my fun toys like that at work.

Speaking of that, the battery tenders I prefer can also operate autonomously. I e., initialize to required charging mode when plugged in, with no interaction or buttons required, and operate 24×7 indefinitely. I have some older ones that not only need to be enabled after power on, but you must select battery voltage and chemistry type before it starts. (And these are soft buttons, not rotary, toggle, or slide switches). They're really designed for attended charging.

With an AGM battery, you can get by recharging with a trickle charger, but it would be a multi day affair to get back up to full voltage! I use a 2 amp smart charger (Noco) to get up to speed sooner than later. With a conventional lead acid battery, continuous under voltage leads to sulfation formation, requiring more amps to overcome as buildup accumulates. I did discuss this in another thread! AGM batteries are much more resistant to this, so not so much an issue.

Spot on! I have a WirthCo 4A smart charger that has taken multiple days to recharge a depleted battery. Currently, I use a Noco 10A charger as my go-to for a drained battery. Beyond that, I have my old-school charger I got directly from Zeus. ⚡

@swindler, it would be nice to know if your battery fails a load test or just was at a low state of charge. I will continue to monitor my voltage and trickle charge using my 5 Amp NOCO until the next software update. But, one view is I should not do anything and see if it dies and then request a new battery.

So far, I have my car a week and the infotainment software is totally abysmal. I also have the screen darkness issue so I go into the display brightness setting, chang it to -2 and then back to max brightness and it comes back. However, now I have lost my Alexa buit-in system, Amazon music and Pandora cuts in and out ( no problems with my phone with these apps on other cars that I have and used.) and no Google play store anymore so I cannot add apps to the system. I have done the resets and such to no avail. I will be going to the dealer tomorrow and they have indicated that there are a few updates that need to be applied but I haven;t a clue what these will do. Indicated it will take all day to do these updates. We shall see if things get better. However, if anyone has any suggestions I could try, I would welcome them.

Have you tried the volume knob reset?

Thanks for replying. I did and it made it worse. After that, I have an intermittent music playback, including Sirius XM and no Google play store. The android system is buggy from what I can tell. I am anxious to see what the software updates the dealer is telling me will be applied tomorrow and what it corrects. I will share it with the group when I know further.

Shame on them If they let you take car without the software updates being done prior. They “should” eliminate your issues. 🤞🏼

No suggestions, hopefully updates will do the trick, best of luck!

How many issues are supposedly fixed by the disconnect the battery, pump brakes to deplete residual charge, and then reconnect battery?
