Just purchased a used 2021 Navigator - when driving for a while, notice a "burning" smell inside the cabin. Has anyone experienced this, and what is the cause and resolution for this issue?

Hi vpillai. It is extremely difficult, at best, to blind Internet diagnose issues like this.
Is your 2021 Navigator still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? If yes, schedule a service appointment with the Service Department of your Lincoln Dealership.

That being said…In the meantime, you can check for fluid leaks, especially in the engine compartment and/or in the area of the exhaust tract from engine compartment to rear.
Different fluids often have different odors.

Also, check for debris (i.e plastic bags etc. which may have become stuck and melted onto or in the area of the exhaust system.

I’m sure others will jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

You have the twin turbo 3.5L, correct? If so, you might have a minor oil leak where oil is burning off before it can drip onto the road. If dealer says you need a new turbo, that's usually incorrect. The oil leak is usually due to loose/bad connectors on the oil feed or drain tubes , and therefore oil coats the turbocharger. (tech service bulletin SSM 52335).

But BBF's info is also correct. Mine is just a guess. It could be other things. Regards,

Thank you 11MarkX.. This is extremely helpful..yes I have noticed droplets of oil underneath the vehicle in the garage..when parked..will address this with the dealer..Just blown away that this vehicle has already chalked up numerous issues already..which I have addressed with the dealer..vehicle has been in the shop for the past two weeks soon after I brought it...hopeful repairs are completed under the warranty..

@vpillai You bought a used car, there is a reason someone moved on. If it was a leased car, the previous owner probably didn’t care. You have a 4 yr/ 50k warranty so it’s mostly free.

Make a list, be super kind to the service writer, and they will get it sorted, after that put 10k miles on, if it’s got issues move on, but I suspect it will be fine with proper maintenance.

I know what you mean vpillai. It's disheartening buying such an expensive vehicle only to have problems. Maybe manufacturers of luxury vehicles need to do more R/D before putting new models/ideas on the market? But as LegalBrief as stated, buying a used vehicle is always a risk. Previous owner maybe didn't treat your Navigator too nicely?

Also due to the complexity of new tech, every luxury manufacturer is all dealing with teething pains of new vehicles. Once these items are fixed, your vehicle should be reliable, but it is a luxury vehicle so much more stuff can go wrong and it also depends on how you drive it and maintain it.
