2024 Hybrid Nautilus Reserve II. Had the car for about 3 weeks and was loving it. Then one morning the engine was making an odd low rumbling and the car would shake a bit. Wasn't dramatic enough to warrant concern, then later that day the tailpipe started spewing smoke with a strong burnt smell and the engine got really loud and clunky. We pulled over and had Lincoln Concierge tow the car to the dealer. Been there about 3 weeks and the communication from Lincoln has been horrendous. We go days without any communication from the service department, and when we do it's because I call. They promise follow up in a couple days....it never comes...I need to call back. Depending on who I talk to it's either "it's a new car and we're waiting on parts so they take longer" or "we had to escalate to corporate, we're waiting to hear back". Nobody has given me a clear explanation as to what happened and how it will be fixed so there are no future problems. I know they will rectify the issue, but the communication is the most frustrating. It seems very shady that get different responses and never get any follow up.

Has anyone else experienced this with the 2024 Hybrid (the engine issue, not the service issue).

Call the Lincoln Concierge and express your concerns. This gets things officially documented with Lincoln corporate plus they can be very helpful in getting things resolved and getting the correct people from the Lincoln engineering side involved.

Let us know how things work out. Good luck!

Wow. That's not a great story. What state are you in? Unfortunately, you may need to look into your lemon law.

Good luck to you. Keep us posted.

Good idea on the Concierge.
I'm in Illinois. I've already looked at the Lemon Law. I believe they have 4 chances to get it right. I will definitely be requesting a complete breakdown of the issue then taking it to a trusted repair shop for validation once I get it back.

Hey Guys.. I had the same exact thing happen two days ago (Saturday) to my 2024 Nautilus Reserve III Hybrid 2.0. 3 weeks old and 800 total miles on it.

Started sputtering with white smoke out the exhaust, horrendous clicking or clunking sound, strong smell of gasoline and ultimately went into limp mode and died. We had to hand push it into a parking lot for towing Sunday. My Dealer in Mi Varsity Lincoln in Wixom today (day 1) has been awesome. Delivered a brand-new Aviator loaner to my home and already called me to explain what happened. An Injector tip broke off into my motor causing the damage. They said they will have a brand-new motor by weeks end and have the SUV back to me by next Tues.. I honestly thought it would be a month or two for the repairs..

2024 Hybrid/Black Label/Jet Appearance Package: 1 week of ownership ~400 miles, check engine light (misfire), FSA from Lincoln requires a borescope of cylinders for misfire codes. 1 cylinder found gouged, awaiting engine replacement.

Yikes. Of all the '24 Nautilus stories so far, that's gotta be the worst. Make sure you have full documentation of time-line for potential lemon law buy-back. What state are you in?

2024 Hybrid reserve with less than 600 miles and i get service engine soon light yesterday because an engine misfire was detected. Brought it back to dealer and was told not to worry. The code that came up is being investigated. They reset but code came back again today. Not feeling good about this.

Sounds like it might be this known issue, perhaps?

This is from a list maintained here: https://www.lincoln.com/support/service-information/

Holly cow, this is serious when new engines end up with cylinder wall issues. Hope they get a handle on the FOD (injector tips or whatever) that is causing the damage.
Its a known issue with injector failure.
SSM 52432: 2024 Nautilus - 2.0L EcoBoost-Hybrid - Fuel Injector Replacement

Sounds like a bad batch of injectors. Hopefully they can isolate the source/batch effected.

Could a bad injector result in a gouged cylinder?

Could a bad injector result in a gouged cylinder?
Absolutely. It’s direct injected and the injectors break and separate. The tip ends up in the cylinder

I also experience the same issue on my 2024 Linhcon nautilus reserved II. purchase the vehicle on a Saturday

The identical problem is present on my 2024 Hybrid Nautilus Reserve II as well. The vehicle was purchased on a Saturday, and a service engine light illuminated on Tuesday morning. That evening, around 5:00 p.m., while attempting to accelerate at a stop light, the vehicle begins to tremble and emit a clicking sound; the rearview mirror reveals an abundance of white smoke. Upon stopping and opening the hood, I noticed what appeared to be oil stain drops on top of the engine. The vehicle has only 150 miles on the odometer.

Are the broken injectors the root source of the problem, or are there other issues that may be present? I don't have high hopes for the problem being resolved; was it overpressure that broke the injectors, or was there another mechanical issue? If the injector broke and the tip wound up in the cylinder, would the tip have damaged the cylinders?

From what I gather is the injectors are failing. They are very similar to diesel injectors and a failure can lead to them ending up in the cylinder causing severe damage. Seems to happen within the first few hundred miles.

Hybrid?

Wow. This is just crazy. Six engine replacements just in our little corner of Nautilus-dom. Many of you guys are much more mechanical than I am. Do you think that if this problem doesn't occur in the first few days of ownership, then owners are in the clear? Really thankful right now that I chose the ICE model. I feel like I dodged a bullet.

One way or the other, it seems to me that Lincoln needs a stop sale on the Hybrid to have the injectors inspected before cars are delivered.
