My Lincoln
2023 Corsair Grand Touring
Here are some of my pet peeves about my new Corsair. The first 4 especially.

1. You cannot have lane centering without adaptive cruise control/Bluecruise activated. This should be fixed. Always-on Lane Centering should be available like it is in other car manufacturer models. Incredibly there is a button for Lane Keep always but not Lane Centering.

2. The Lane Keep button (physical button) is at the end of the stick which controls the light options. Terrible non-intuitive location. Worse it can be accidently bumped which turns off not only Lane Keep, but Lane Centering, and Bluecruise. If your adaptive cruise control or Bluecruise is not working then you should check to see if the Lane Keep button has been bumped to off.

3. The seat belt alert on the dashboard obscures what driving mode you want to select. Why does the seat belt icon persist so long after all the seat belts are fastened? The seat belt icon displays much too long. It should be smaller in size and go away when all the seat belts are fastened.

4. When Hands-free is activated, the graphic then obscures the navigation indicator in the Heads-up Display.

5. The navigation system does not communicate with Bluecruise at all.

6. There is not a good reliable privacy screen for the cargo area which I could find. The problem seems to be with seats which lean, move, etc. Surely there is a way to have a privacy screen independent of the rear seats.

7. The default on the Sync display seems to always default to displaying my phone contacts. I don’t necessary want my passengers to see my phone list. I can always call via Siri if needed.

Omg yes. Especially #s 1-3 and 5. Sigh.

I use waze with Android auto and i can see the navigation instructions in the HUD but there's no communication; i.e. I wish the navigation instructions would TALK to bluecruise so it would exit automatically, slow down at the next turn, etc.
So does it do this with the onboard GPS or any other GPS App? I’m a big fan of Waze, I use it all the time in conjunction with our RV GPS, as we are travel a lot.

I’m looking to purchase a 2023 hybrid and trying to lean as much as possible before we make the purchase?

There is a rear package tray that serves as the privacy screen. It attaches to the liftgate and secures into the plastic trim behind the rear seats. It is independent of the rear seats. It isn't a screen but is a hard tray. There isn't much room for a screen back there TBH.

Even with on board Lincoln GPS, same thing. No direct involvement with blue cruise. Just tells you what to do and gives you the heads up display like Waze and Google Maps do.

Along with the annoying seat belt "reminder", I would like to add the front seat...it goes back farther than necessary to allow an easier entrance and exit. If you are not tall, it is hard to reach the brake to start the car. Also, it goes back so far, that it interferes with lowering the back seat. The head rest gets caught on the back of the front seat. I had to remove the back seat headrest to make it go down. This was not a problem on the five previous Lincolns I have leased. The only solution is to turn off easy-exit feature, which is not desirable.

So it’s not totally autonomous!?

TT
No. It will stay in the lane you choose. Does not follow any navigation or GPS. Brakes and accelerates and lane centering all allowed. Will change lanes based on you activating the turn signal.

Although it does not have the exit/entrance feature, I have similar issue with my CRV, but I just keep the drivers seat in same position. On the other hand, when my wife ocationally drives, if she doesn’t put the seat back I can’t get in my car, as she is 5’ and I’m 6’! I would think this would be a welcome feature for me.

As far as any annoying reminders or chimes, they might be defeatable with a laptop and software by editing through the CAN bus system interface, like most fords.

Other than that, how well does bluecruise operate? Do you have full confidence in it?

I definitely like it for any highway driving. My job is 15 miles away with 10 mi highway. I use it almost daily. Nice perk. Undecided if I'll pay for the subscription once it's expired. If I had a longer commute then I definitely would!
I think it works great but I've never used anything else - no Tesla experience etc.

In my opinion, the seat belt issue (#3) is the worst! I've never had a car that required me to select 'OK' in order for me to see my dashboard EVERY SINGLE time I drive it. This will be my last Ford/Lincoln product because of that one little thing, unless they correct it with a software update while I still own the vehicle. As you stated, it should automatically go away when the seatbelts are fastened. Other than that, I really like the car!

A million times THIS!!! The stupidity of it is epic: The notification persists EVEN AFTER THE DAMN THING SEES THAT THE SEATBELT IS BUCKLED! The icons turn green, but the notice doesn't go away. I literally think Ford built this thing without hiring or consulting a single UI/UX designer or engineer.

Has anyone complained or made a suggestion to ford/Lincon?

TT
No, but I have definitely thought about it. I'm just not sure what the best way is to get that suggestion to them.

Not positive but I believe the seatbelt light timing is a government thing. Seems there was a delivery holdup on some Lincolns as the light would not stay on for the required 5 seconds. Needed a software update.

Doesn’t sound right, if you buckle up it should sense that, and turn off, like every other car in this country! I wonder if it could be addressed in the CAN bus with Forscan!?

I know friends of mine have completely changed all the chimes and notifications on Ford F-series trucks through the CAN bus system. I found this procedure for the F150
Turn ignition on (engine off), wait for airbag light to go off, plug and unplug seat belt 4 times in a row, seat belt light will start to flash, plug and unplug seat belt one more time. Goodbye annoying seat belt chime that goes off whenever the wheels are turning. I Don’t think this would work on a Corsair, or turn on the dashboard, but ya never know!?

Also, I found out on the internet that there was a Lincon recall/update, if you have it done the seatbelt delet procedure doesn’t work. Furthermore, it states there is a chime delete procedure in the owners manual.

My wife and I intend to purchase a 2023-24 hybrid, when we do, I will definitely be all over this!
