FORScan User's Thread

I just installed new Forscan V 2.3.59 dated 03/04/2024 , It still doesn't ID 2023 Nautilus. Oh well, maybe the next version update will have database that has it in it.

Bummer....you would think at that the Ford Edge would have an update by now. Does not look promising!

Maybe on the next update in May. I'm looking to see if I can add fog lights to my Reserve l. The plugs are already on the loom, just need to add them & change out the headlight switch on the dash. Then have to change some stuff in the BCM, ect. holding off on buying parts until ForScan can ID my car. I know you were looking to add a trailer hitch & module on your ride.

Yes....I really want to get a factory hitch setup, and was looking forward to getting a readout on my system. An indy mechanic who I am friendly with has a son who is a Ford Master Technician. He recently left the Ford dealer he worked at, and is now with his father. I am going to visit to see if he has the Ford program to give me a readout.

My big issue will be re-programming the 6 or so modules I believe that need to be set for Trailer hitch full function features. I am hoping when you are able to scan your modules, you can tell me what other modules interface with the trailer Brake module. Meantime, I am putting together the parts needed to at least get the hitch installed, but like you, am holding off on the electrical stuff. Oh...and thanks for the update on the most recent Forscan release. You saved me the time of downloaded it & the disappointment thereafter!

I am seriously looking at getting a 1 year IDS license at this point. Before plunging into that, I need to know if that would do what I need it to do (trailer install).

The latest version didn't help me out also. Still missing a module (APIM). I just reached out again to FORScan support about updating their database for 19- '22 MY's. It probably won't happen until the '23's get on FORScan's radar?

You know you can get shorter IDS license, you don't need to buy a full years license. I think you also need a Ford VCM 2 or a VCM 3 to use IDS.

I thought IDS is for older Ford vehicles and the now the go to is FDRS software. I personally haven't needed anything past FORScan. this is what I was told by a buddy at a dealership. IDS I'm sure would work but don't you also need it's own cable? Just curios.

The cable is the VCM2 or VCM3. The same license can be used with ether software. FDRS is more for system/component testing . You can still use IDS to get trouble codes on Ford systems that ForScan can't access.

RE : Forscan, just look at the version release notes. The latest version doesn't support 2021 & up Nautilus yet.
just have to wait until they update the version data base lists.
I just downloaded the new version 2.3.60 dated 04/28/2024 , it still can't ID 2023 Lincoln Nautilus ECM's. This new version at least will ask you if you want to auto send your vehicle info to the developer. Will just have to be patient & see what the next months release has to offer.

Mike,
Thanks for the update!
Did you auto send vehicle info to the developer? If so, is this something I should try to do also so they see a few are interested?

yes I did, a box pops up wanting to know if you want to send the info to them on your vehicle. I think that the more users that do it maybe they will work on updating their database to include the newer car sooner, who knows. The info on the pop up say, if you have a 23+ cars, so they kinda know we're out here waiting on them for the updates.

I've been monitoring the FORScan release page in hopes that it will have DB support for the '23 Nautilus.

I'd really like to prevent my cameras from turning off past 5mph.

One example is when I frequently drive on narrow two-way city streets with cars parked on both sides and basically one lane shared with oncoming traffic. Even if I do that meandering under 5mph, it's annoying and unsafe to have to constantly reach over and turn the camera back on as I inevitably exceed 5mph before the next oncoming car.

I'm waiting also, last update was 2.3.60 on 04/28/2024 , hopefully we'll see another update soon! I also have a '23 Nautilus that I would like to change a few things.

My local indy mechanic has a son that just left the Ford dealer he was with to partner with his father. They took his rights away to the Ford diagnostic programs when he left. I asked him if he could help me print out module assignments. Although he cannot, he did offer to get the details for me if I provide him with my VIN. (I am looking to install a trailer hitch). I do have the VIN for a 2023 with a factory trailer hitch as well, I am hoping he can make good so I can compare & what I need!
So far I see the mods we are interested in are:
Miked..............Fog Lights
me....................Factory Hitch integration
guidmaker... .Camera view above 5mph

I like all 3!

Don’t forget to download your vehicles asbuilt before you start to play. Just an insurance policy in case things go terribly wrong. Lincoln has it available through their site when you login.

On our '22 Reserve ll camera at speed is : IPMA 706-02-02 xxxF CExx xx- -
APIM 7DO-01-01 xxxx xxxx FD--
APIM 7DO-01-04 xxxx FDxx xx--
Don't know why FORScan is dragging their feet on getting the '23's on line with the '25 soon to go in production.

Thanks, that'll be super helpful when those modules show up for me.

Here's what it finds:

Guessing the database is missing all the other modules and I need to wait for an update.

e: This person is getting the same results. Doesn't look good as it suggests at it being an electrical/hardware issue of the car itself.

Read your post on FORScan, the one thing your could do is send in your log to their customer support. If enough people start sending incomplete logs, maybe they will wake up and they will add the '23 Nautilus/Edge. What adapter are you using, and is it auto or switched? I know that's not your problem, just curious. Can you open the modules you have , especially the BCM?

Good suggestion, I'm fully invested in getting this to work. I've sunk about $80 into the official cable and software (paid, just so I can post there), but if it means my $50k'ish car performs to my satisfaction, then I'll take that deal any day of the week.

I'm using the recommended OBDLink EX cable adapter. It's auto switching.

One thing I haven't tried is the latest beta version, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's definitely not your cable adapter. It's the same one I been using on about 20 plus F150"s and a few Nauts and Edges, Mustangs. It's a good adapter for it's price point.
