I just read this article and tested - it actually works on our Aviator. Ford drivers discover 'pressing & holding' key fob button unlocks hidden feature

With your key fob, double clicking and holding on the second click the lock button for down, and unlock button for up - will roll all windows down (or up) after holding the 2nd click for 2 or 3 seconds. Pretty slick.

I would imagine it's limited to cars of certain on board firmware AND windows that have the full travel smart switch/motors. I've not tested my 2012 Expedition, but it only has the driver window that can do a full down or up on initial switch actuation (i.e. you press the switch firmly through the soft detent in the switch).

Anyone else know this before? Care to share your other Ford vehicles this works on?

The owner's manual describes how this works, so I assume it does. I haven't tried it.

Hi inmanlanier. Yes, it is (or at least was) called “Global Open/Close”, and this has been an available feature for some years now.
Still good information to make everyone aware of.

On my 2007 MKZ it is only the front windows (and moonroof if applicable) which can be opened/closed using the Global Open/Close feature on the keyfob.
On my 2018 MKZ, all 4 windows (and moonroof if applicable) can be opened/closed using the Global Open/Close feature.

I am just curious though. Your “Global Open/Close” feature seems to be working opposite of mine and others that I am aware of. On my Lincolns, you double click/hold the unlock button to open the windows/moonroof. And double click/hold the lock button to close them.

Good luck. 🍻

OOPS - you are correct. I reversed the description of my experience above. It works as the reference article says, unlock opens (which makes sense to ventilate a hot car, and lock to close (so you don't worry about doing it before you leave the vehicle if you're locking as you leave).

Global Open/Close. It's been on Lincolns for many years. Cool feature, glad you found it!

Just be careful. Some people, including me, accidentally opened their windows by having their key fob in their pocket or purse. I now have that feature disabled in my vehicles.

Yeah... somehow, I must've put down the windows in my QX56 last weekend with the key fob in my pocket. I'm still not sure how I did it, but I don't know of any other way all windows were down in the morning. It's a good thing it didn't rain or snow through the night.

It's not a "hidden feature". It sounds like some owners just haven't fully read the Owner's Manual.
For the 2022 Aviator, the description is on page 121 of the manual. ;)

You are correct, as always - Peter. Just like Microsoft Excel, for example - I'm sure no one has sat down and 'fully' read the owners manual.
