Aviator 2023 Screen does not turn on

I have a new 2023 Aviator, the screen stopped working a month ago, called 2 dealers their wait time is 90 days.

Any remedy will be appreciated. I am really upset at Lincoln, how a new car has clitches.

Thank you
I have a 2022 Grand touring & awhile ago the screen started shutting off intermittently while driving. Very frustrating! I did a master reset but that didn’t help. I rec’d this notice from Lincoln & dealer just reprogrammed my APIM. Only had car back 1 wk but have had no probs 🤞
Suggest you try calling calling Lincoln concierge to see if they can help. FYI, my car said my SYNC software was up to date but when they checked, they said there was an update I needed to install. Since my car was sched’d for service anyway, I had the dealer do it. Good luck!

I called Concierge, 4 times, and tech support 2 times, garbage, cannot do anything, the tech did try to do hard reset, soft reset, and I tried uploading the new software as mentioned by others in this thread, it fails to upload and gives error, the tech says your modem has gone bad. There are 3 dealers in AZ, non can get a loaner car, they don't have any, backed up, my appointment is Dec 05, that I booked around Oct 3. Lincoln as a Brand POOR Customer service. Will not recommend to anyone.

Hi Phx. Perhaps this will help...or not: If a Dealer has no Complementary Loaners available, Lincoln owners can receive compensation for a rental vehicle, up to a certain amount determined by vehicle. Speak to your Service Advisor about this and/or Lincoln Concierge.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Although I've never had to call Customer Service, my dealer has been excellent. They are a small-town dealership and there never seems to be an issue getting a loaner. The only interaction with Lincoln has been through the Concierge when I ordered my 2023 Aviator. They provided updates on the production progress. Did you attempt to update Sync using a USB? If so, I don't know why a modem would be involved. You're just transferring data from the USB to the vehicle. I have a feeling that the issue is possibly a bad APIM and not the modem. Are there any other Ford or Lincoln dealers in the area?

I had a similar issue recently with my 2023 Reserve that was built in late Feb. The Navigation became glitchy when car was turned off and then restarted a few minutes later. Got worse and worse over about a month. Finally had the issue where screen was totally blank when starting car.

If your backup camera is working then there is nothing wrong with the screen,. If the screen won't show the backup views, then your screen has failed and you have to have a Lincoln Dealer fix it. I would talk to a Lincoln Concierge representative and they might be able to get you a quicker appointment.

My issue was the Sync Version 22159 which I determined was installed when I went to the Sync 3 update site. When I updated to the latest version using a USB stick, and downloading it from the Sync 3 updates site, all my problems went away. If you go to that site and put in your VIN #, it will tell you which Sync version your car is currently using. If it isn't the latest #23188 version, that's very likely the problem. Once you have the 23188 version downloaded to USB stick, plug it into the slot in the console slot below the sliding door next to the driver's seat. It should automatically start downloading. It takes a while and your Aviator needs to be running the whole time.

Good Luck!!
I have tried the WIFI and it will not download SV 23188 even though my Lincoln dashboard says 23188 should be available, currently car shows 22159 and I tried USB the screen gives me a Error Code Failed Instl_ERR12 after trying to update. Any suggestions????

Hi endurider and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. First...Forget about updating SYNC 3 via WiFi. While SYNC 3.4 is a little better than SYNC 3.0 in that respect, SYNC 3.4 WiFi updates are still problematic at best. Yes, WiFi updates work for some, but the consensus seems to be it does not work for most.

Nest...If you followed the SYNC 3 update website instructions properly and still receive an error message, I would recommend contacting Lincoln Concierge and/or Lincoln SYNC Concierge.

If they can not help, then I would recommend scheduling a service appointment with your Dealership. From what I read online, many state that error code indicates an APIM issue. While I can not verify that information other than this anecdotal Internet information, either way, it will be covered under warranty.

I am sure others will jump in with more advice and recommendations, so keep us updated and good luck.

Went by the dealership today, next available appointment is February 26. Made the appointment, but that is frustrating. I believe if I could get the car to accept 23188 update it would help the problem.

Well, it might or it might not…. Best to let the dealer handle it, but watch them carefully.

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
Are there no other Ford or Lincoln dealers in the area? I find that wait time ridiculous especially since so many functions depend on the screen.

You should force their hands. If you don‘t need a loaner, just show up and tell them you are leaving it with them until it is done. They’ll work it in. An appointment in February is just nuts.

No, I'm in Bend Or, would have to go over the Cascades to Eugene or Portland. Considering that option.

Yeah, thought about just leaving, mentioned that to the service rep. He said people do that, usually take two to three weeks before they can squeeze it in, no loaner, and I need the car.
