Missing underside parts

Missing parts on New (Day 1)2023 Corsair Grand touring. Right rear splash shield. Left rear screws missing.

What dose the dealer prep fee actually do?

My dealer and Lincoln Concierge refused to buy and install these missing rear fender liner parts. They claimed its normal, that's how the cars are assembled now. (I gave them some strong verbal feedback on all this cost cutting.)

So I made my own for the very sloppy right rear; left rear is not so loose so I'll let it be for now.

Not perfect and won't win a beauty contest from underneath but it should get the job done reasonably well for winter snow.

My dealer tried to tell me the same. They had my wife's GT on the lift and had me come walk into the shop and look at another on a nearby lift to show me it was "normal" since they were both the same. So, I took a walk out into their new vehicle lot and found 3 sitting there, all with the correct parts installed. I took a pic on my phone and walked back to the service dept. The advisor let out an interesting "Oh" and said she would have the correct parts ordered.

2023 Corsair GT. My driver side below the front door trim is loose and is missing parts to hold it in place. I also have an annoying buzzing noise coming from the front console on rough roads. Has anybody noted the same?

2022 GT with factory hitch. Both rear wheel-well liners flapping around loose. I'm having a hard time telling if I need the same parts as listed in Post #50. Can anybody analyze? First pic is driver's side, second is passenger side. Thanks.

Mine is missing also must of fell off have you been able to locate the part and its number>

My service manager advised that the passenger side is missing on all 2023 and is unavailable.

I converted a plastic license plate to cover the missing section on the passenger side.

As luck would have it I was only missing two screws on the divers side.

Hope the photos help.

My 22 GT has parts missing on both driver and passenger sides, I wasn't too concerned till I looked closer on the passenger side and noticed there is a fairly thick wiring harness (12 volt battery wires?) that has a connector right near the exhaust pipe that has melted a bit. Nor sure if the connector can be disconnected anymore due to the melting. The "missing parts" being referred to have a heat shield that would have prevented this from happening. Looks like a trip to the service department is in order, I'll bring the pictures and parts list numbers with me and see if I can get them to add at least the passenger side parts.

2022 GT. I took a look at the wires. Yes, a lot of wires close to the exhaust pipe. One bundle touches but is wrapped in silver foil. The others seem OK, so far, but worrisome.

What dose the dealer prep fee actually do?
To answer this question, assuming it is about the pre-delivery of a new vehicle. Based on what this used to be generally make sure the vehicle is good to go
Check all fluid levels and tire pressures.
Remove any shipping protectors.
Install any final items like a license plate bracket.
Start and operate the vehicle and all accessories.

The fee may be for something else and would be a question to ask your salesperson.

Action

See photos in Post # 64 (about six up). My driver side has a heat shield. The driver rear fender liner, while not totally firm, is better than the passenger side, which does not have a heat shield. The passenger side liner is more floppy and wires are dangerously close to exhaust.

Does anybody have the heat shield on one side and missing the other? Thanks.

At dealer now. Seems to be no consistency between Corsairs. Their top mechanic is trying to figure out what's missing, if anything. He does agree wiring harness needs to be at least zip tied away from exhaust.

I am scheduled to go in next week. I looked under 3 other '23s on the lot and none of them have the panels installed. One other had a hitch and the same harness hanging 1/2" away from the exhaust. Shoddy at best.

But with no "correct examples" to be found, I seriously doubt I will get anywhere with my dealer.

Update from dealer. Their top guy, 40 years as tech, took a close look at a few Corsairs and did some online research.

The GT is different from the ICE Corsairs. On the GT passenger rear, there is a black cylinder cooling fan. Tech thinks adding a cover might block fan from cooling properly. As far as loose wire touching exhaust, solved by zip tying higher up.

On GT drivers side, the heat shield is protecting a plastic container. Cannot add to fender liner because heat shield blocks access to potential securing points.

While I don't like the answers, I think he knew what he was talking about. He definitely wasn't trying to sluff it off. He wanted to know what was correct and make it right. I'll have to go back over the threads on this and see the knowledge base again.

Thanks for sharing. This sounds interesting, but definitely doesn't justify the harness bouncing against the exhaust! The lack of structure disappoints me but sadly doesn't surprise me. I guess we will see what my dealer says. I have 2 other issues or I probably wouldn't be wasting time taking it in.

Was your dealer able to obtain and install the parts? If so, are they the same part numbers provided in this thread? Thanks!

Nice work with the homemade remedy. My driver's side is good, but the passenger side is missing. The wiring was not close to the exhaust like others have reported, and it is very snug.

However, the rear of the wheelwell liner is not attached to anything and is wobbly when manipulated. I ordered the "missing part" but it's on back order. If it doesn't come in soon I may borrow your idea and make something similar to connect it with the quarter panel.

Just came back from a 1200 mile trip where I visited 3 different Lincoln dealers in two states. They all said the parts have been discontinued and will probably never show up if ordered.

On a positive note, I have had intermittent "Parking Brake Fault, Service Now" messages whenever climbing a long grade, results in check engine light. Local dealer tried to fix it and couldn't find anything wrong. Since they zip tied up the wiring with the melted connector (done before I left on the trip) the Parking Brake Fault problem seems to have gone away. I'm guessing when the exhaust got hot climbing the grade(s), it caused some electrical problem in the melting connector. They have agreed to fix the connector, and probably just keep it zip tied up away from the exhaust.

Ok so I'm not alone. Picked up my factory ordered 2023 reserve with tow hitch. Driver side rear fender area is floppy (accidentally kicked it trying to use foot to open/close the liftgate). Passenger side is fine from what I can tell. Pics attached. Missing a screw from the driver side (bolt? I'm not handy at all!). Can I just pick one up at a hardware store? I don't want to go to the dealer - 45 miles, over an hour away. Thanks! 20231021_154654.jpg20231021_154706.jpg20231021_154714.jpg

Yeah, I’d take off one on the pass side, take it to the hardware store or a local Ford dealer, get the identical part, and install it.

Since I'm not handy at all, I was a bit nervous but I guess I can do that without killing myself or blowing something up!! Thanks for the suggestion. that does seem the simplest, quickest solution.
