My liftgate wont open with either button in or outside the car. Nor the fob, or foot sweep. Thoughts?

Hi Deano1313 and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. Blind Internet diagnosis is iffy at best. Check your Owners Manual for the fuse charts/diagrams, and see if the fuse/fuses for the hatch release and motor are okay or blown.
Are there any sounds when you attempt to open the rear hatch, or simply silence?

If the fuses are intact, then the issue will need deeper diagnosis, in which case a Dealer or competent independent shop may be necessary.

If your 2018 MKX is out of warranty, you can try the DIY type fixes of disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to see if it resets the hatch release system. There may also be a hatch reset procedure listed in your Owners Manual, so give that a look.

I am sure others will jump in with more advice and receommendations.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Ours does the same thing. Works intermittently with the fob, pushing the button inside the car or on the hatch, and the foot sensor, so it’s not a fuse. For some reason, the car ignores the inputs.

I have a 2016 MKX with the same problem. Sometimes the door will open. Other times it will not. Seems like I have to wait until the car feels like it wants to open. Sometimes the fob works. Other times it's the dash button working or footstep or door button. Either way it's never consistent. I am wondering if I have a bad actuator. Any thoughts?

2021 Lincoln Nautilus lift gate not working. Inside button, button under the L outside plus key fob. New battery installed in key fob, luftgaye still won't work. I do hear it trying to work with the slightest motion like something is holding the release. Actually if I'm 50' away sometimes the key fob release dies work but only when engine is also on. What the heck is going on here? Help !!!

I just had this issue on my 2016 MKX. Sometimes it would open other times it would not and it would just beep. I found that my electronic latch was going bad as the automatic liftgate motor would engage everytime trying to open the liftgate but the latch wasn't releasing.

I think the part was about $20-30 on Amazon and took about 30 minutes to swap out.

2019 Nautilus. Mine was in the shop last year for about three months while they tried to figure it out. First it was some module, then it was the programming on the module. Then it was the module again, (after they replaced it with a new one) then it was the programming on the new new module. They finally got it working, now just about a year later it's starting to act up again. When I wave my foot under it, it starts to open then immedietly closes.

Make sure there is nothing in the cargo area possibly leaning against the liftgate. I had a similar issue when some items shifted against the liftgate on my 2019 edge.

Have you tried lifting it manually when you open it with the button? Like try to assist it opening. If it works that time it could be a bad actuator.

Hello, the liftgate in our 2019 nautilus stopped working. Took to dealer and they said it needed both new lift struts. They quoted me $1200 for the job which I thought was steep. Even the service manager said you could probably buy them and do the job myself. So I bought both new from Tasca Ford, installed them and still same problem. When trying to open from inside the car, fob or foot motion it just pops open from lock but does not lift the hatch. I checked both fuses and they were good. Disconnected the battery and also held down the button on the inside of the hatch till it beeps to reset it, still nothing. What am I missing? Could it be a bad module, or does the new power strut need to be synced or paired with the vehicle? Any help in this matter would be appreciated, Thanks.
P.S. this vehicle only has 30kish miles, seems odd these would go out with such little use.
