2023 Corsair orders, build dates

I appreciate your comments, thank you. Your answer sounds like it is coming from a current or past ranking member of the Lincoln universe. In any case I will not get into a he said, she said discussion about production priorities and delivery times. After all, it is what it is and I am in no hurry. Hell, I've never even driven a Corsair!

Hi littleneil. I was only trying to help, so my apologies if it seemed I was involved in a "...he said, she said discussion...". That was not my intent.

Hope you get your Corsair soon and good luck.

Yep they’re going to have to buy a rear cargo cover lol. Doesn’t look that much different inside than a 2022 other than the larger screen and console opened up from moving some buttons. Looked like a standard maybe ?

I can assure you a person named Ford gets no priority code. A call the plant manager is all thats required.

I was at Ford and in the Department when the new T-Birds came out and the new Mustangs.
Pretty much the first ones all went to the Ford family and board of directors No priority codes involved. LOL

Good chance early builds went to Henery Ford museum.

Hi olderbudweiser. My comment about Priority Codes and "people named Ford" was meant as a joke, thus the winking emoji. 🤣😉

But just to address the call to the plant manager part...With modern "Just in time" production scheduling and parts deliveries, it takes far more than a call to the plant manager to get a vehicle scheduled and produced, even if your name is Ford. 😉
But no need for us to get even further off topic with that long discussion. 😇

Good luck. 🍻

I just checked the Staten Island dealer has 6 in transit to them. They’re a huge dealer. They will get them quickly I’ll bet. But I wouldn’t give them sand in the desert.

Hi DD. Are you referring to Dana Lincoln? If yes, I agree, since I have not heard a lot of good things about them.

Good luck. 🍻

Yes they are the worst of the worst but one of the biggest dealers. Few months ago they had over 200 Corsairs on the lot. They are down to 35. I had purchased 10 cars from them through the years. I was buying the 11th when the sales manager sneakily sold it out from under me. I exploded on them. How many of their customers could say they bought that many cars from them ? Not many I’ll bet. Also anyone you talk to will tell you their service department is the worst. My MKZ Dana screwed up so bad and had it for like four months each time. Then when I gave them a bad review they wouldn’t service it anymore. Lincoln Concierge paid out of their own pocket for Chris an amazing tech at Irwin Lincoln in freehold to rebuild the engine and transmission himself. When I got it back it was perfect and the car was like new. It was the 3.0 and I decided to trade it in for the Corsair. I said to myself if anything happens after the warranty I’m screwed because the engine has to come out to do everything. I’m really happy with the Corsair. I call it an almost reserve because it was a standard with the bigger wheels and panoramic roof and climate package etc etc. super quiet and great on gas

I would disagree there. When a new vehicle is going to launch. Everything that is necessary to build is there, If you are a Ford junior you are at the plant and drive it away. Or is goes directly to World Headquarters.

If Martha Ford wants a new Mustang for here grandson and calls the plant manager do you really think he/she is gonna say sorry Martha no Mustang for your grandson because he is a priority code 19. That person would be out of a job.

Our department had the list of who received the first 5 T-birds. Of course that was long ago. Chances are they were almost hand built.

Hi olderbudweiser. As you stated..."...that was long ago". Things are different now than they were back in the day. Even when discussing pre-production vehicles only, as you just did.

"Just in time" scheduling/production has changed all that. Once the "pre-production" vehicles have cleared inspection/and the defect free production period (those vehicles do not go to customer orders), then "regular" production begins and every vehicle is scheduled for a particular Dealership as either a Dealer stock vehicle, or a customer factory ordered vehicle. And that is where they go. Once regular production begins, no one is walking in and saying "I want that one", no matter what their name is. Not because they could not, but because that is not done anymore.

Now, if we want to limit the discussion to those pre-production vehicles, then yes you are correct, and virtually any high level executive can get one of them. But that is a limited time and quantity of vehicles. And some may even be scheduled as Ford family or other high level executive vehicles, if they so desire (which sort of gets us to the previous "Priority Code 1" discussion 😉 ). But they are scheduled that way in pre-production.

However, nowadays, once regular production begins of customer factory orders, no one is walking into the factory and saying "I want that one" and driving out with it. And no one is losing their job for doing their job. Ford would be paying through the nose for an employee dismissal for something like that.

But again, while I can't be sure how long ago you were a plant employee, parts/component deliveries, scheduling, and production procedures etc. are very different now.

No one here needs to worry that anyone named Ford is going to steal their special order. 😉😂

Hope that makes what I was stating more understandable. Plus...we are way off-topic now. 🙃

Good luck. 🍻

Although have seen vehicles disappear for quality testing.....lol and never reappear again. Our department lost on of our test vehicles that way. Not sure who grabbed it. But they had to build another one for us. Sorry didn't mean to imply Ford walks in and takes your vehicle. But if a person named Ford wants a new GT Mustang. It's gonna get built in a week. Some regular customer may wait an extra week. The vin you were assigned will still be on your vehicle. The guys / gals up in scheduling can make things happen.

The way of the world. Who you know or who you’re related to. Like that everywhere

Hi olderbudweiser. Yes, the double secret probation "Priority Code 1". 😉

Good luck. 🍻

We got notified our Corsair was built on May 1. The tracking site claims it is going to be delivered at the dealer between May 17 and May 23. With how this order has been terribly handled, I would not count on that, but hopefully it will arrive by the end of June.

Just for fun, I was searching large dealers to see if any actually claimed to have a 2023 Corsair in stock. There were none that I found. However, I found a dealer near Philadelphia that claims you can order a Corsair and they will guarantee it will arrive within 16 weeks. If it doesn't they will give you an additional $1000 off the price. I wonder how they can do that or if Lincoln is directly backing that guarantee; that seems an awfully big financial risk for an individual dealer given the rocky start to the 2023 Corsairs.

Hi Torquer. It is not backed by Lincoln and it is no risk to the selling Dealer at all. It is a Dealer sales/marketing ploy, no different than every other sales/marketing ploy used to get buyers to come in and sign on the dotted line.

Without even getting into the likely "disclaimers and exclusions" included in this so called "guarantee", here is one way they can do that: They simply will overcharge by ~$1,000 on the selling price in the first place. If it comes in on time, they made an extra $1,000 off of us. If it comes in after 16 weeks, we will then get $1,000 off the selling price, which will still only get us to the price we would have been able to negotiate without the fake "guarantee".
In other words, they build that ~$1,000 into the selling price. Even if they lose it, they still sold the vehicle for a satisfactory price to them. If they don't lose it, they make an extra ~$1,000.

It is a no-lose proposition for them.

Good luck.

Had a couple of crazy days on my order! As of Monday I was still in Production with a blend date of 04/05. On Tuesday the car showed Built as of 05/02 and today it shows as Shipped as of 05/03. Fingers crossed but projected delivery to my dealer in MN is set for May 23-28. My order was for a GT Package III and all options. Ill update the spreadsheet but thought I would drop this positive news as maybe others are seeing movement as well.
