The refreshed 2023 Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair were revealed last fall, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2023 – at that time, at least. However, in February, Ford paused Escape and Corsair production after discovering a quality issue that we later learned was software-related, and that shutdown was eventually extended all the way into March. Turns out, the problem was traced back to the instrument cluster, and a re-flash corrected it, allowing The Blue Oval to resume production with no further issues, as the automaker revealed in its latest sales report. However, there is a major discrepancy in terms of how many Escape crossovers FoMoCo built versus the total number of 2023 Lincoln Corsair models that have come off the assembly line thus far.
As Ford Authority reported yesterday, after building just 494 2023 Ford Escape models in February, the automaker managed to ramp that number up to 11,771 units in March, which is a significant jump by any measure. However, it’s worth noting that The Blue Oval only assembled 159 Lincoln Corsaircrossovers at the same plant over the same time span, as the Escape’s more luxurious brethren was also facing the same software-related issue. It’s unclear why that’s the case, but it’s notable, regardless.

When added to the 366 Corsair crossovers that came off the line in January, along with the fact that none were produced in February, this means that just 525 units have been produced in total this year – a drop in the pan compared to the 16,166 Escape crossovers that have been built over that same time period.
There are many reasons why this could be the case, including demand – it’s possible that Ford has secured far more orders for the refreshed Escape than the Corsair or is prioritizing production of one over the other, which is why it’s focusing on that particular model. For now, at least, the reasoning behind this discrepancy is unclear, however.

We’ll have more on Corsair production soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Lincoln Corsair news and continuous Ford news coverage.

The Corsair was supposed to go into production in December and we're now in April with only 525 total being built. They're not assembling a Bugatti...it's absolutely inexcusable how badly they have bungled this situation!

Are you new to the improved Ford Motor. This has been par for the course over many years now. Ford has other priorities that superceed providing problem free vehicles in a timely fashion.

I placed an order for a 23 PHEV. I'm now thinking of canceling it( the dealer said I could) as they keep pushing the date back for production. Now, to make matters worse, the government is only allowing half of the amount stated when I ordered it and if I lease it, I get nothing! I think Ford credit is being cheap but not sharing what they will get and to share with me, the loyal buyer. I may just buy out my current lease of my 20 Corsair Reserve II. It's got everything plus low miles, (14500). It doesn't make sense to but it at the very high price and still nt get the 7500 back on taxi credits. They lowered Corsair credits to 3750 max. and only with a purchase. A kind of poor deal!!!

Dealer will be very happy if you cancel your order. They will not cancel it. Ford wants customer orders to be verified so dealers cannot over order popular configurations and up the price. Dealer will get your vehicle and have no problem selling a PHEV, maybe even getting a few bucks over MSRP.

Thats what happened to a '22 Corsair GT I had on order. It took 11 months, Feb of '22 ordered to finally delivery in Jan 2023. I told the dealer if it wasn't in by year end I couldn't take it as I would be out of town for several months and they could just cancel the order. They said "no we wouldn't cancel as it's not a problem to sell it but not to worry, it'll be in before Jan 1, 2023". So, I also ordered a '23 GT in Sept of '22 assuming the '22 wouldn't get here. Sure enough, I was out of town come January and didn't take delivery (it was delivered the 2nd week in January). The dealer was happy & sold it at a premium compared to my pricing plan (xPlan). Now since Sept no communication on the '23 other than the confirmation from Lincoln that the order was received. I've tried going thru the Lincoln Concierge 3 times stating that others with a GT at least have had some production date, albeit its changed and their orders were placed well after mine. The only answer is "you must have something ordered that is a supply issue and keeping it from getting a production schedule; could be an item like seats, color etc. I asked if they could tell me what it was and maybe I'd modify the order (I have 2nd and 3rd color choices if it was that) but they said they don't have that info and more than likely it wouldn't be a color issue. For the '22 on order they arbitrarily dropped the "no hands" hatch opening and gave a measly credit. Hope if and when the '23 is built after waiting this long they don't again drop features! 🤬

I know they will not objectify I cancel. The salesman said that already. I'm sure they'll get more for it if they sell it to someone else. I think I may wait until the 24 model is out as it is supposed to have more changes. Not important but... I may also drive my '20 for a year and sell it or trade it in on a different brand. I've been loyal to Lincoln. I understand the supply issue and know nobody can help that mess but if I can get something else cheaper, it may be time to be "disloyal'. I understand that some foreign makes that didn't qualify due to non American builds are now offering discounts that match the government offering. That may be just fine for a few years.

@Rob 543 I'm curious what changes you have heard are coming for the '24s.

By the way, I don't blame you for wanting to be "disloyal", I would be also. I am so glad I bought my 22 Reserve off the lot (well, it was in bound with a 1 week arrival time) when I did March 22.

It'd be interesting to know what you believe will be new for 24 but as supposedly 23 was a refresh year I'd expect nothing until the EV model (25?).

I haven't heard anything precise but heard that it may get a new body. Not sure if that's even true. It really doesn't matter as I like the current one. With all the issues, I'm sure they will delay much change for 24 and just ry to build the 23's. Even though it is going away, the Nautalis might be a better cocoa. Now cheaper than the Escape PHEV and as I do limited driving, it may make sense. They have a lot of Nautalis models available and the deals may be better. If not, I'm not opposed to keeping my current car with which I'm very satisfied.

I ordered a '23 cosair in early October, so going on 7 months. I called the dealer who had no more information than I did. I have read this thread and know I am not alone. The thing that upsets me the most is that lack of information. I was first in formed by Lincoln/Ford that I would get updated every 45 days, I got 2 x 45 day updates, the last being January. This to me is just poor public relations and unnecessary. I understand there has been problems with software, parts, etc..... but is their internet working?

Not that's a valid excuse even if so but my notice included a tracking link which includes the predicted build date and a description of your car. You didn't say your projected build date. Perhaps they quit sending updates if nothing has changed?

My tracking thread was updated on April 5, 2023. Initially scheduled week of April, 3, 2023. With the update on the 5th, the in production bubble was populated with the date of April 4th, 2023.
No updates since.

I hear you. I got two notices. The first was immediate after the dealer placed the order. It said the vehicle would be built the first week of May. they even sent a vehicle number assigned to it. The next came about a week ago moving the build date to the week of May 8. Nothing since. My issue is that although I like the vehicle, it is the IRS or some lame brained senator who now changed the tax credit of Corsair from 7500 to 3750. To make matters worse, they also now say if I lease, I get nothing as the credit goes to the leasing company (ford credit) They already said they have no plan to share this with cutomers as some other car companies have done. I'm a bit disgusted. The 3750 is not. enough to entice me to buy the car as expensive as it is. I'm thinking of moving to a Nautalis instead.
