Performance Upgrades

Very well put. While I do value performance, coming from a Town Car I'm pretty sure I'll find the Conti with the 3.0 plenty fast. Honestly I would love to move into another v8 but none of my daily driving will even take me onto a highway to really take advantage of that. Also living in upstate New York, the roads can be slick enough that really getting on it can be a costly decision to put it mildly.

What I really found interesting was your assessment of the Revel Ultima, that is an absolutely great thing to hear. I've always replaced the speakers in my cars, to not have to do that with the Conti will be a money saver for sure.

While the BMW does sound nice, my big drive for wanting a Lincoln is the fact that a dealership is within 5 minutes of my house, nearest BMW dealer is an hour and a half away.
It's a great car and going from a town car to a conti should be fine for you and give you more than enough performance especially if you do some modifications. The top end Revel systems are some of the best I have heard and I have been in a lot of vehicles.

Out of curiosity, in your previous audio upgrades have you also installed subs? I've noticed in even the best systems the low end was never enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about shaking the car or being obnoxiously loud. My setups are put together in a way anyone outside of the car would not know I had subs installed. Essentially lower wattage set up as stereo instead of mono for each sub to operate independently of the other for better reproduction of the audio.

I suppose what I'm trying to find out is if you felt the low end of the Revel Ultimate was enough to avoid investment in add-on subs?

The revel Ultima was good enough sub wise I just upped the bass a little in the sound menu to my liking. I did replace the subs and speakers on the bmw as the HK was pitiful especially in the sub department.

Thanks for the insight. Would be great not to have to waste any trunk space on subs in the Conti.

Plus the cost of parts are cheaper to replace then the BMW.

Honestly, that is a huge reason why I'm drawn to the Conti, ownership plan is to hold onto it for about 15 years. Being able to affordably maintain and repair my next car will be important. Hoping that the Conti will fit that bill.

I've thought about an electric car but my commute back and forth to work is 7 minutes each way. I drive less than 5k miles a year. I've literally had tires give way to failure by age than tread life, hence purchasing an electric car right now will never pay off it's premium price with gas savings.

technically a new electric car will never pay for itself compared to an old used car or the car you have. Its more if you want something new or new to you. The conti should be fairly cheap to maintain compared to other luxury vehicles assuming you like it and want to spend money for a new to you car.

Very well put. You have hit the nail on the head.
Based on your ownership of the Conti when you had one, is there any advice you might have to be on the look-out for this or that or perhaps a feature to avoid or make sure to have?

I've been predominantly looking at only Black Labels as they seemingly all come with the 3.0 and AWD along with the Revel Ultima, which to me is must haves in the next Conti.

Depending on year the soft close door handles can go which is about a 500-700$ fix. I would recommend making sure you replace the fuel filter every 30k, and id recommend doing transmission fluid/ptu every 50k. I would have liked to have the heads-up display but mine was right before they had it. Its great on the Aviator. Also of course do your regular oil changes at the recommended intervals. My BL was great overall and very reliable.

Is it the part that is the majority of the expense or is it pretty labor intensive to replace the handles?
I know the 2017 handles were an issue covered under recall, do you know of many issues with the newer model year handles? Also know the heads-up display was a mid model year change in 2017 so going to try to purchase a 2018 and up Conti to ensure I get the heads-up display.

The heads-up display is an option that I'm sure is only available on the reserve and BL. As for the door handles, the replacement was on all Continentals, 2017-2019.
TSB 18-2327. Recall 19S03

I didn't know the heads-up display was only available on certain trims. Thanks for the info.

Also didn't know that the door handle issues were 2017-2019. Thought it was just a 2017 issue. I'll have to make sure they were replace under recall before I purchase the Conti. Do you know if there is only a certain amount of time to claim repair on the recall or is the recall repair available to second owners even years down the line?

After they have done the recall if it fails for another reason you are stuck with the repair cost. Just FYI for me it was after the recall and it was the button on the outside stopped working. Its fairly labor intensive I believe as it fits into the molding.

I was a second owner and it was down after the warranty expired. It's a safety recall so its still covered. I'm waiting to get the rear camera replaced also under a safety recall. They just don't have the parts available yet.

That's good to hear. One less thing to worry about. Thanks.

Be sure to get one with HUD.

I take it the HUD is a very worthwhile add-on? Seems to be well liked.
To be honest, my mind was made up before I bought: I was not going to buy a car without and I am totally happy that was the correct approach.

I wish it was available on the 2017. I had a loaner with it once and loved it.

I am hearing that later 2017 models did have the HUD, but the early 2017 models didn't.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
