So I started this thread in the hopes one day someone from Ford/Lincoln would see it. So based on the Corsair that you own what would you change or do different ? Don’t mention what’s already changed for 2023.

For me : I would get rid of the material wheel wells ! I would also put back strengthening components for the rear lower bumper. Restore the engine appearance cover. Change the shiny black plastic on the interior that smudges easily and scratches easily and collects crazy amounts of dust lol. Re design the center console similar to the MKX and MKZ that had open lower storage. Put back and include the roller shade type cargo cover. I do absolutely love my Corsair and these are just some pet peeves.

Anyone else have thoughts ? Chime in !
 
Get rid of the stupid piano key style shifter buttons...make them vertical on the left side of the climate control console if you feel it necessary to use buttons.
 
  • add an option for a 6KW EV charger for the GT, the 3KW one is pretty anemic.
  • increase the GT battery size to get 50 miles on EV only.
  • add tie downs in the back cargo area
  • add a roller cargo cover (yes already mentioned, I second it!)
 
  1. Stop using inferior parts. These are poorly built vehicles
  2. Get rid of the piano shift keys.
  3. Fix the water retaining issue on the rear tailgate that spills water days after washing your car if not immediately opened
  4. Care enough to go after reported rogue dealers who are using criminal tactics to sell your vehicles. There is at least one well-reported dealership on the East Coast that you have allowed to stay in business despite multiple complaints of underhanded selling tactics.



    I am not optimistic anyone from Lincoln is going to read this, but a good idea for a thread nonetheless.
 
I work for a company that manufactures some of the raw materials used to make the 'material' parts. They have significant weight, noise, and durability benefits in the right applications and when installed appropriately. I can't say more than that.

I like the piano key shifter, absolutely hated the prior verical oriented push buttons. Agreed on the piano black trim, the cargo cover, the engine cover, and the tie downs. I'd add - more/better ambient light colors; more configurable instrument cluster/infotainment screen.
 
Two thumbs up to all the comments…
1. Heated steering wheel as a stand alone option not part of the $4,900.00 (cad) Elements Package…bought myself a new pair of warm gloves!
2. Engine cover…no excuse whatsoever, none!
3. Not sure which is worse, the “piano black finish” or the “stainless” steel appliances in the kitchen.
4. minimum 50 mile/80 km range
5. Power should be on par with the Lexus, Volvo etc. at least 300+
6. Allow me to configure a tachometer (just because)

LMAO ! I’m the same way with the stainless ! One member here suggested the swiffer for the dust all over the black and I keep it in the drivers door compartment. Works way better than trying to wipe it off with a microfiber. Real wood might be nice ! I also believe, and I know it’s offered on the reserve and above, because it’s great for safety, make standard adaptive headlights ! Had them on my MKZ and they were a Godsend on a turning road at night in the rain !
 
2022 reserve with 2.3L. I've only had it for a few days and hoping it will "grow on me"

Gripes:
- no phone answer/hang up button (have to reach to the lcd to hang up)
- no 110V ac outlet (didn't know until I started looking for it)
- overall sounds tinny and has much more road and wind noise than the MKC I traded in
- already electrical issues: battery goes into deep sleep mode even after an hour long drive on highway
- no cargo area cover like the one on my MKC (I don't like the cardboard offering with the strings)

Pleased with:
- like the looks
- I'm fine with the piano shift keys and shinny console

Re: Phone hang up: Try pressing right TWICE on the phone button on the right side of the steering wheel while a call is active.

Re: Deep sleep mode. It is possible that your battery is failing. Did your Corsair sit on the lot a long time before you bought it? Have your dealer do a GOOD battery test. A good test takes a while, nit just a quick test.

Re: No 110V outlet...I mean no ill intent, as I have done the same thing, more times that I want to admit....buying a vehicle and failing to note a missing (or more than 1) item I wanted.

Lastly, did you do longish road test to assess the road/wind nose level?

My previous Acura RDX had shifter buttons, as do many Honda products, that were MUCH more intuitive.
PUSH D to go forward
PULL Backward on R to go in Reverse.
Push the engine start/stop button to engage Park and shut off the engine. (or press P for Park).

VERY easy and intuitive.

This style could be easily adapted and installed to the left side of the Climate control panel.
This is obviously my most disliked feature of the Corsair, after having driven a better shifter button implementation for almost two years.

Some of my wishes are addressed in the 2023 revision (if they are ever released to production). Wireless AA and Carplay, near field charging location on console , larger info screen. However I am concerned they may have hidden the controls for the HVAC. I need to try the center stack to know for sure. And unfortunately the piano black dust collecting trim I think remains.

Now I have one that has not been listed. The carpet in the cargo area is too easily snagged. I normally have a couple of containers that I keep there. To secure them I use the hook part of Velcro. This holds great to most carpet. But when I removed a container from the Corsair, it pulled up fibers and made the carpet look like it needed a shave. I am now using something called a cat's tongue, but it does not work nearly as well.

Sorry DD, I meant to get back to you sooner about how good using the swiffer is, but I was cleaning the stainless steel appliances!

I don't have a problem with the piano key shifter or the shiny console either.

However, there should have been a 110 volt outlet as standard equipment, especially for the plug-in hybrid GT. My 2013 Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid had a 110 volt outlet and it came in handy sometimes. The 2020 Corsair actually started out with a 110 volt outlet, but like with several other items, it was eventually dropped. Too bad it isn't at least available as an option for those of us who might want it.

As I have read the items members would like it makes me go hmmmmm.,,every thing added will cost $$. That being said if I'm the head honcho and I want to compete with Audi, Acura, Lexus, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, I'm going to add a small amount of content and hold the price. You get one chance to make a good first impression.

The Corsair is a 50K plus entry level vehicle. It should be playing second fiddle no one.

Hi gang. For those who have dust issues with their interiors, I have found this combination small duster/brush comes in very handy for the SYNC screen, plastic gauge cover/screen, HVAC vents, console, and all the other sorts of nooks and crannies that get dusty over time: Custom Accessories 9.5 in. Soft Auto Detail Brush 1 pk - Ace Hardware

I have one in the glove compartment of each of my cars, and another on the desk next to my computer screen.

It won't do much for fingerprints, but they can be dealt with by using a soft, damp cloth when needed.

For myself, it would be to restore some of the admittedly very minor items that were in the 2020 Corsair, but were removed from the 2021 and later models.

The biggest one is the temperature displays next to the buttons on the center console. These were a really nice touch.

I would also put back the much more elegant hide-away cup holder in the rear seat center arm rest, the netting for the little cubby hole on the right side of the cargo area. Stuff like that. I did already add back an engine cover in my 2022, with the expectation that it does absorb at least some of the engine sound.

I have no trouble with the piano key shifter. I kind of like it the way it is, but I would definitely revisit the 24 way adjustable seats to make them as comfortable as the 10 way seats are.

Overall, though, the Corsair seems to be very good value for the price.
 
My biggest issue with the piano key shifter buttons...all the keys feel the same. (and the D button is too far to the right. Personally, the pain I constantly endure from a badly broken right shoulder I suffered from the car accident I was in on Black Friday 2021 that totaled my '21 Corsair, often makes it a bit far to reach) The buttons that Acura/Honda uses are all different, and can be used easily by feel, in a day or two.

I seriously considered buying another RDX instead of another Corsair, the shifter buttons were a big decision for me. Ultimately, obviously, I bought the Corsair, but I REALY wanted the RDX style shifter buttons. I am glad I have the Corsair, most of the other amenities, features, etc. trump the RDX.

While I wait for my 2023 Corsair GT, I am still driving my 2016 MKC. The MKC had the vertical stack shifter buttons. This vertical stack was on the driver's side of the center display because the shifter function is something that only the driver controls and only the driver should care about. While the piano key shifter is a cutesy styling gimmick, having to reach halfway across the dash to select "Drive" doesn't make sense. Why would the passenger need or want easy access to the transmission controls?

Form should follow function. If a pushbutton shifter is necessary, the Acura configuration (see photos above in previous comment) looks like a nifty option.

Before pushbutton shifters, the standard vehicle configuration had the driver's right elbow on the padded center console with their hand comfortably resting on the shifter knob. In a household with multiple vehicles (or occasional rental cars), this meant it was less complicated to switch between cars.

In the end, an automatic transmission is mostly a "set it and forget it" situation while driving, right? How often does anyone have to "rock" their vehicle from forward to reverse to get out of snow or mud? That sure sounds like a nightmare full-attention operation if you're fiddling with piano keys. Yikes.

I guess I'll get used to the piano keys. With all of its other wonderful features, the Corsair GT is still the best value for the money compared to other luxury compact SUVs... at least, it is for me.
