Drive control malfunction

Waited like I said, took it to the dealership and found out what was wrong. Why the sport light wouldn’t go off. Well I explained the you can change the performance and handling to normal while still in sport mode. I did that the last time I drove the car prior to getting that “DRIVE CONTROL MALFUNCTION” warning. When I turned turned the car on and put it in reverse that warning came up, I snapped a picture of it, and kept driving while I noticed that it was in sport mode even though I had drive on. Between then and now I’ve changed the options for performance back and forth between normal and sport (while still in sport mode) but the sport light just stayed on. I always have the handleing option in sport because I like a stiffer steering and suspension. The first thing the tech did today was have me run through the options and turn all of them to normal, shut the car off, open the drivers door for a few seconds, then shut it. Start the car, and put it in drive. Sport light gone! No bill! Not sure why it was on all that time but I’m good. It’s fixed. Thank you guys for all your help. I have an issue with my brake vacuum hose that I’ll post next! Thanks

I’ve got a 2016 MKZ 39,000 miles. I got a “DRIVE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED” on my instrument cluster. I can’t get it out of sport mode.
I'm getting this same error in my 2016 MKX - did you get yours serviced?

Hi mbacus and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. Forum member "MKZ80" took his vehicle in for service and found out what his particular issue was and the tech showed him/her how to correct it. If you read back, MKZ80 explains it in his last few posts.

Keep in mind whatever caused his “DRIVE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED” issue and the corrective action he was shown may not be relatable to your situation.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I’ve had an appointment at a ford/Lincoln dealership for a few days now. It’s for next Friday. They told me they would start with a diagnosis scan. That will be $100. And if I get the vehicle repaired there half of the $100 will go toward the repair. I’m not going to disconnect the battery. Risk vs (possible) Reward isn’t looking good. I appreciate all your help and I’ll keep you posted on what exactly happens. Thanks.
Did you find out what the problem was

For me, it was after market rear suspension. Computer doesn’t like it. Those shocks are pretty underrated as they are. Needed a set at 50,000.

How long did it take to pop on after you installed the shocks?
