Fuel system leak (both check engine & fuel cap light on)
Question about this component
[Vacuum valve pump]
PN: XW4E-9C915-AB
New fuel cap installed with no resolution to issue. Was suggested to check this component. Did some research only to find out this part comes up for a 00'-02' Jaguar S-type X202 and its discontinued. I can only order used on sites like eBay or Amazon.
Can this part be Ohmed for testing?
Should I take the vehicle to get smoked?
Any one else ever have this component go bad and have any advice?
As far as I know this part is original to the vehicle.
*Pictures are for reference only and are not of actual part on my vehicle*

Testing or electrical testing would be outlined in the shop manual. I do not have one for your vehicle.
If you are going to do your own repair work would suggest getting a shop manual test.
The vehicle is 22 years old. To find a new valve at a dealership would be a fluke. The consumer demand for this part is very likely not high, so no one is making a replacement in the aftermarket.

If you determine the part is bad, really you are going to have 2 choices.
Find a used one (There is one on ebay)
Some how take this one apart (It was not designed to be serviced) and make it functional.

The number on the part, XW4E-9C915-AB, is a Ford engineering number. For used parts, many people will refer to this as a reference number.

Good luck.

Thank you. I'm ordering a working used one and just eliminate the possibility. This whole car is crumbling like a 16th century structure. Ill update the results and continue on fixing this leak.

I am looking for a fuel purge valve for my Lincoln LS v6. I have looked hard to find one. Got one from a reputable salvage with the same part number but it did not fit.

My LincolnLS is a 2000 model.

Welcome to the LOG!

I would have created a new thread if I was asking this question.

With that said, know that in the Ford parts numbering, the service part number is never on the part. The number on the part is an enginering number. Ford maybe the only company in the world that does this.

The Lincoln LS was built on the DEW98 platform. That platform was shared with Ford Thunderbird and Jaguar S Type. Back then Ford Motor Company owned Jaguar. Not sure of the exact sales numbers of each, my guess is the LS sold in more numbers than the other models. However the universe of donor vehicles for a used part maybe expanded to those models. (For calendar year 2000, there were over 50,000 LS units sold. The most for any year available)

And you might post a detailed picture of the part.

One other thing, repairing what you have might be a possibility. Not exactly sure what is wrong with part you have.
