2022 Navigator

I was able to physically see and touch a 22 model year today. I really like all the tweaks and changes they made to this years model. The screen size looks much more impressive in person vs photos. Its large but not obnoxious. Seemed to work smoothly with sync 4. I was impressed and even more excited for mine to be built. This one is available for sale in Knoxville, TN if anyone is interested. Same dealership I have mine ordered through.

Reserve L Pristine White w Ebony/Roast interior
Looks great and thanks for posting. I havent seen the new one on the road and I was starting to think we wont see it until mid year. This gives me a little hope that maybe production is picking up. This one was build 1/24

BTW, when did you order yours and what is the anticipated date of delivery?
10/21. Estimated production week is next week, 3/21.

Looks like MotorTrend has some issues with the new Navigator. I assume the lane keeping feature has been around for awhile. Anybody had a problem with the Navigator not knowing your hands are on the wheel on a long straight road?

Implying they have multiple issues, when they are really only pointing out one, is a bit much here. They said they like it overall.

I would never buy a vehicle based on what seem to normally anti-Ford/Lincoln biases from those reviewers.

Spoke to my dealer and he looked up my order. Black Label “L” Special Edition White, Black Onyx Invitation interior with massage 2nd row: it was already built and sent to the factory that does the “special edition package. Ordered 11/11, priority code 1, email from Lincoln shows 4/11 build date. So information is all over the place. At this point I will just wait until it’s actually at my dealership. 😂

Well, seems like more than one to me...

"We experienced ActiveGlide's full automation on Phoenix's 202 loop freeway and found it worked beautifully—right up until the road curved west into the afternoon sun, when it started shouting warnings to our squinting selves. (Interestingly enough, when the Navigator came to a section where it couldn't steer itself and needed the driver to put hands back on the wheel, the warnings were silent.)
Now, we'd normally dismiss this as not such a big deal if it only affected hands-free driving, but there is a major caveat here: The face-recognition camera is also required for the normal lane centering function. So even when we weren't letting the Lincoln do the driving—so, when we were on non-ActiveGlide-mapped roads and turned on cruise control and lane guidance, with our hands firmly on the wheel—the Navigator continued to yell at us to watch the road, even though we were.
This annoyance is piled on top of another one: Like most vehicles, when lane centering is engaged, the Navigator sounds a warning if it believes you've taken your hands off the wheel. Instead of a capacitive touch sensor, Lincoln uses the cheaper torque sensor, which detects inputs on the steering wheel. The problem—which we've experienced on other vehicles as well—is that on long straightaways, which require no steering, the Navigator yells at you to put your hands on the wheel even when they are already there. This is the reason why the Cadillac Escalade, equipped with GM's competing Super Cruise system, invested in the pricier touch sensors. Lincoln could do better for its top-of-the-line vehicle—after all, it's not like it's selling these full-sizers at razor-thin profit margins."

The question remains: Anybody had a problem with the Navigator not knowing your hands are on the wheel on a long straight road?

I'm guessing any system like this that relies on cameras and sensors will be affected by the sun blazing directly into the cameras.

I also question how those reviewers know what cost Cadillac put into touch sensors vs Lincoln.

Hi gang. Another possibility: The touch sensors can be fooled. Tesla and Cadillac owners were buying a fake hand/hands, which could be attached to the steering wheel, fooling the sensors into believing the driver has their hands on the wheel.

So opinions can vary on which is the better solution.

Good luck.

You can even put an orange or tennis ball between the spokes of the steering wheel and it tricks it too.
Hi BL. Yes, seriously. 😂

I did not search deeply for the hands link, but here is a Google search that displays links to other Tesla (and cadillac) autopilot trickery: Fake hands for tesla autopilot - Google Search

Hey...you need two hands to read the newspaper or play Candy Crush while driving. 😉

Good luck.
Ok, now I feel stupid that I own one of these for my Model Y. It does work great

My original build date is supposedly this week but just like you and others, got several emails. Last one says 4/11 build date but I called my dealership today and they looked into the system and it showed my SUV was already built and en route to the Penske location where they do the “special edition package”.

Actual 2022 Navigator BL road test review, they claim 0-60 5.5 Sec. which is faster than 2021!
