Last week’s OTA update to my Sync 4 system (Lincoln Enhance v1.4) and the Lincoln Way app enabled SecuriAlert, a new feature that sends an Alert to the Lincoln Way app that a door, hood, or trunk/tailgate on your vehicle has been opened. SecuriAlert is located under the vehicle tab on the LW app, where you can turn it on or off, and schedule it to be active at certain times of day or night.

I’ve been giving it a try... Turned it on, and got alerts for every open door or tailgate opening on my Nautilus. My iPhone would ping and I would get the same alert on my Apple Watch. Fine, but it was ME that opened the door! To dismiss the alert, you have to go into the LW app and acknowledge that you are dismissing it because nothing is wrong (no doubt to limit liability for Lincoln).

I can see the usefulness if you park outside or on the street in a questionable area, but for everyday use in the suburbs, it’s more of an annoyance, at least for me. That said, I will use it at selected times and places. I will post some pix of the alerts, etc., soon.

Cool. How is Sync 4 treating you so far, and do you like the OTA updates?

Any chance there's a setting not to alert if the car's not locked?

Great, it’s a massive improvement over Sync 3, which I had in my 2018 MKZ. Simpler interface, much easier to use, and about 5 times faster, including all the Bluetooth connections and (wireless!) CarPlay. It’s shocking to me that it is not included in the other Lincolns, even the 2022 models. The Over the Air (OTA) updates happen seamlessly in my garage. The car let’s you know when an update happened overnight and what it included. So much better and easier than the Sync 3 updates.

No, I looked. It’s an all or nothing kinda thing apparently.

Awesome, thanks for the review. I am getting a 2022 Nav mainly because of Sync 3 issues causing a buy back from Lincoln. Good to hear the info.

Here are some pictures of the SecuriAlert alerts. The first is the basic SecuriAlert screen with the on/off switch with the scheduler, etc. The next is the alert from the LW app on my iPhone (in the Messages section) after I opened the tailgate. I also get a Notification on my Home Screen and my Apple Watch. Next is a detail screen from the incident, the location, etc, and if you want to report it to the authorities. If you decline, the next photo shows a Confirmation of the dismissal.

Leaving SecuriAlert on all the time was annoying because every door opening would trip the system and at the end of the day, I had a dozen or so alerts, all of which I had to dismiss, lol. I see where this app has its usefulness, but being able to schedule and turn it on and off at the owner's discretion is very helpful.
