I have 2013 Taurus SHO. Love styling of Lincoln MKZ (rear, especially). Won't buy one, however, unless they offer a more powerful engine. Taurus...even at its hefty weight...is a beast on the highway. MKZ would be awesome with 365 horses...and would compete with Caddy ATS. Anyone know of plans for a higher performance MKZ?

Good question.

While I doubt we will see the 3.5L EcoBoost on the MKZ, it is very likely we will be getting a more powerful engine. I'm thinking of the 2.7L V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost with about 335 HP and 370 lb/ft. which was just introduced on the 2016 MKX. There is also a 2.9L EB in the making but I don't know any details yet.

So it's very likely we will get a more powerful engine along the Mid Cycle Refresh of the MKZ - however, we don't know yet when that will be. The MY2016 MKZ is going to launch pretty soon - a bit too early for the facelift which therefore, will be MY2017 - so the facelift (and new engine) won't launch prior to CY2016.

Thanks for the insight.

Timing of MY2017 may be about right for me.

The 3.5 Ecoboost won't fit in the engine bay. We'll likely see the 2.7 or 2.9 Ecoboost when it's refreshed, though.
