Yes I have a pano roof. The water comes in right after a rain when when you try to open the trunk. It hits the areas around the hinges right at the areas where the trim comes up to the hinges. It seems to come off from the lights on the trunk deck. I had a loaner and it leaked in those areas also . It does not leak during a rain. It only leaks in if you need to open the truck during or after a rain . It is definitely a drain off issue from the trunk deck. It is not a lot of water but enough to soak into the felt like trim around the hinge areas on both sides. It is just kind of or irritating when you pop the trunk open right after a rain.

Here are the areas where the water drips in when you open the trunk after or during a rain.

Hmm, I have the pano roof too and it rains a lot here in Washington but I've never had any problems with leaks. I remember back earlier in the year that the rear window failed the water test. That's the only one. I will try to remember and open the trunk when it rains and will report back. Thanks for the pix.

Appreciate your input. Please keep in mind it is not a leak as water does not come in during the rain. It only drips in if you open the trunk. Let us know if you have the same issue If you do not the problem there must be an issue with some of the trim pieces on the truck lid where the light panel is connected as that is where the water drips off the trunk lid unto the felt by the hinge. I will have to take the car and have them check it . I will take a video of it so they can also see after rain how it drips in as it will be easy to video.

I've seen what you mean. Although we haven't had any major rain here in Tacoma but there was some light ones. I did get to see what you were talking about. There seems to be a slight collection of water around some area where it suppose to drain off. It's like a stream and when you open the trunk, there is a break in the stream and that's where you get some water splashing into the trunk area. Next time check the runoff when you open the trunk. There is a gap between the seal and it's not continuous. Should be top right/left of the trunk area.

Here are some pix after a rain. You can see where it dripped into the trunk by the hinge area.

You have it exactly right. I think ALL of the cars have this issue. It could cause some problems after time from getting damp in that area. It is a design flaw that could be corrected with some form of trim to stop the runoff from the light area on the trunk lid. It just needs to be diverted somehow.

Yup! I took my car to be washed and then to the grocery store. I opened the trunk to grab my shopping bags (we have to pay for them here....) and drippey drip. Hey! Just like Steve said. I don't have a pano - just a sun roof. It looks like a trunk design issue. You are not alone, Steve. I bet we'll have lots of company in a few months.

The little felt trim they inserted by the hinge may have been their "fix" to wick the water up. If so it was not a very well thought out repair.

Ok took my car in to get a windshield repair ( not my fault and they covered it under warranty ) and asked them about the leaky trunk. The service advisor said there is nothing they can do. Ford/Lincoln has no bulletin or repair issues on this. She said it was a design flaw perhaps which I told her it was for owners that live in rainy areas. So there is nothing they can do. I'm just hoping there is enough case for them to do a fix of some sort otherwise we're left holding the wet bag.

I am fairly certain every car is like this as it is part of the design. I would not expect too much out of Lincoln unless someone knows someone at Lincoln! I just wanted MKZ owners to be aware of the problem .

They still have the same issue.
