My Lincoln
2022 Corsair Reserve 1 FWD 201A, Technology & Luxury Packages in Asher Gray/Sandstone
It has happened randomly (once or twice) during the year and 12,000 miles I have owned my 22 Reserve. Now, in the last few weeks, it has happened three times. I mentioned it to my service advisor when I had those multiple visits for the headlight, but you all know what he said....."Could not duplicate customer complaint"

Any ideas? Windshield is mostly dry, rain sensing wipers have been turned off (I think) when this has happened....but it should not matter, it is not raining. I worry about the dry wiper blades scratching the glass, as we do get some dust here in the desert. It is one swipe when the car starts up.

I thought I had posted this in the past, but I can't find the thread. (shrugs) Sorry if it is a duplicate.

hmm. I have not seen that with mine. I have seen once or twice while driving the wiper wiped once on dry window. Same with the back window once. I thought had a ghost but it has not happened again. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks for mentioning this.

I think somewhere in the settings there is an option to have a courtesy wipe on startup. Look for it and make sure it is off.

Thanks, the advisor had mentioned this as well. :)

On my 2022 there is the following in the manual:
"...When activated, a courtesy wipe occurs a short time after the wipers stop to clear any remaining washer fluid."
I turned it off.

I do not have rain sensing wipers on the Corsair, but on my 2019 FFH I did. They did do a wipe on startup occasionally. Never could figure out why and it usually was when it wasn't raining and the windshield was dry.

Yes the courtesy wipe setting is for after you use the washer and the wipers stop. A few seconds later it does one wipe to clear remaining washer fluid that drips drown. I think what you’re seeing is you have rain sensing wipers on. But the lever off. When you turn the lever up to rain sensing it does a wipe. Also every time you change the sensitivity it does a wipe. Pretty much anytime you do anything except turn it off it seems to do one wipe.

Right, except I have not done anything with the wiper stalk. I just start the car as ususal, and once in a while the wipers swipe once. I suspect the sensor is failing.

JB, set the sensitivity control on the stalk to low. The manual mentions that if your vehicle is set for auto wipe, dirt/dust on the sensor can trigger it. They recommend lowering the sensitivity to prevent it.

I think it works by the camera. If there’s condensation (prob not in Arizona lol) it will make a pass. Or possibly dirt. Is the wiper stick all the way down or you leave it on the rain sensing position ? I have mine off all the time because I forgot to turn it off and I cleaned the windows and got whacked by the wipers when I sprayed the window and started wiping lol.

My 22 Reserve behaves the same way. Once in a while it does a single wipe after startup, sometimes right after starting and sometimes it waits until I've moved a short distance. Turning the courtesy wipe off makes no difference. I suspect it's just dust and the changing angle of the sun. Tried the different sensitivity settings, no effect. I think it might have something to do with the sticker on the door jamb (sarcasm intended).
