I wonder if the 2006 Town Car has typical areas where rust occurs first, so that I can check these when I go to pick up mine. Is corrosion an issue with that model, and if so, where would it normally occur first? The car I am looking at has been running in a climate not unlike coastal British Columbia, Canada for ten years (Swedish west coast, somewhat inland, about 60 miles from the coast).

The only rust on my 2007 model was on the driver side rear quarter panel just forward of the fuel tank fill opening. It appeared water was being held by the fuel filler support metal on inside of fender and rusted through the outer fender. The repair with metal was close to CDN$2,000 with a car rental for a week and the extra cost of paint and application for the tri-coat metallic finish. That was two or 3 years ago now. No problems since.

Never found any rust on body or frame other than the above panel.

I never used the parking brake so the cables corroded and needed to be replaced.

I never used any anti rust methods.

Good luck.

Rust... For Town Car in New York, this is a problem. Friends, watching my joy from buying a 2007 Town Car, shake their heads disapprovingly and tell me that this car will rust through and through very soon. The car already has rust in some places, but it's still very minor and I want to fight it. I have hands, head and desire for this.
I would like to find tips here on how to get to hard-to-reach places and treat them with anti-rust agents? Where should be processed first? Maybe this will come out as a small instruction on rust protection for all Town Car enthusiasts like me. Thanks in advance for your replies.
