My 06 Sig Ltd trunk lid cover fell down as the threads in the plastic screw plugs became stripped. I checked with a local auto body supply shop and they said they had nothing generic that would work. I tried to use the screw covers from the taillights but they were too short to screw in. I Macgyvered a fix that is permanent and probably better than replacing the plastic threaded screws.
I went to the depot and got three 1/4" 20 thread coupling screws and screwed them into the posts of the trunk. I'm not 100% sure if that is the actual correct thread count but they went in 3-4 turns and are not going to fall out. Then I put some space washers in with a 1/2" bolt and it's fixed. There was a bit of a space so I just used a large enough nut as a spacer but anything like that would work. Permanently fixed and probably better than the plastic screw caps.
