Town Car HVAC recirc door actuator replacement

The recirc door is accessed from behind the glove box in most all Town Car models and controls the entry of either fresh outside air (when open) or recirculated cabin air (when closed). The actuator may be a vacuum motor (earlier models) or an electronic motor and sensor (later models).

Attached is the procedure to replace the electronic recirc door actuator on a 2007 model Town Car that is the same as 2003 and up models.

Attached is the procedure to replace the recirc door actuator on the 1998 Town Car model. The same procedure is used for the 1998 thru 2002 models.

Does anyone know if this Ford part 19A580 HVAC Heater Control Shaft can fix RDA axle

Does anyone know if this Ford part 19A580 HVAC Heater Control Shaft can be used to fix the axle of the recirc door?



1999 Lincoln Town Car EATC Code 2416 recirc door failure/ short. Changed RDA still got same air direction problem.


Ford Parts shows part 19A580 called a HVAC Heater Control Shaft. I contacted the dealer parts to see if that part could be used as a fix within the Recirc Door Axle. He said he has never heard of the part ever being ordered. Said he did not know where the part went or its use.

Does anyone know if this Ford part 19A580 HVAC Heater Control Shaft can be used to fix the axle of the recirc door?

Ford Dealer parts person said I cannot buy the Recirc Door it self. Says it is all contained within the Plenum Chamber assembly and that is 242.00.


Sure would be great if 8.82 could fix the problem at the axle of the Recirc Door vs 242.00.

That would be NO.

On this 1999 Linc Town Car, if the recirc, rephrase that, when the plastic neck section breaks off the door you will need to replace the entire chamber. Maybe able to get away with a temp fix depending on the condition of remaining pieces, if any.
